Someone is sobbing and I can hear a beeping sound. My head hurts like a bîtch and I really wonder what happened to me. I open my eyes to see my mom,dad and little brother all surrounding me. By the looks of my surroundings I'm in a hospital but when did I get here and why?
"She's opening her eyes. Addy!" Christopher calls out in excitement. He hold my hand and sit down on the chair next to my bed.
My mother wipes her tears and waves dramatically while thanking God.
"Addy I was not ready to lose you. One day my daughter was kidnapped and never came home. I refuse with you. I've been through so much and there's no greater pain than losing your own child." She sobs painfully holding my other hand. Dad comforts her.
"Mom what happened?" I stare at her expectantly.
"You were kidnapped then you were left by the hospital entrance injured on the head." She explains. I remember being forced to get inside a car's boot but everything else is a blur.
"Who kidnapped me? Did you find those people?" Whoever they are they need to pay.
"Unfortunately not but the police are going to find them." Dad explains. He turned a new leaf. If it was back in the days my dad would hunt them down before mercilessly killing them.
A guy in green scrubs and a doctor's coat walk in. I presume he's the doctor.
"How's our patient doing?" He's wearing a stethoscope around his neck. His cologne is familiar. He's wearing a mask but those eyes can never decieve me.
"Qwawe?" I call out and all eyes turn to him.
"You know the doctor?" My mom ask. I almost say he's not a real doctor but I bite my tongue.
"Very well so." I reply.
"Can you please excuse us?" He ask and my family walk out of the room but not before my mom assures me that she'll be outside.
Qwawe takes off his mask as the door is slammed. His stubble is a little grown.
"Aren't you supposed to be with your fiancee preparing for your child's arrival?" A big part of me is pleased to see him once again. I thought he'll forget me but clearly not .
"I'm sorry." I didn't expect him to apologize. His eyes look a bit sympathetical.
"What for? For leaving me without an explanation or for dumbing me?"
"Technically we are not dating and we never did. I'm apologising for letting you get kidnapped in the first place. I wouldn't have to save you if I made sure you were protected." His words leaves me out of words. I stare at him in shock.
"You saved me? How?"
"I'll tell you later so am I forgiven?" He smiles softly staring at me. He shouldn't smile. He's too handsome and his smile just emphasizes the obvious.
"You're confusing me Qwawe. What do you really want from me? You're about to be someone's dad. Go take care of your fiancee." He sit down where Christopher was sitting and he also takes my hand and stare intently at me.
"I tried to erase you off my mind Adelaide but I can never forget you. I don't know what is it about you that keeps pulling me in." The weight of his words settles on me. I know deep down in my heart I'm feeling something for Qwawe but I can never settle for the second best or share him. I know I want him but as long as he doesn't belong to me there's nothing I can build with him.
