Qhawe has hired a PA to handle his businesses in South Africa, like Blue Royal Hotel. Which is where we are heading now. They say you can take a snake prince to South Africa, but you can never take out the prince in him because why the hell are we being driven right now?
"Why did you buy me a car if you're not going to let me drive it?" I fold my arms and look outside the window.
"Gemstone, you're going to drive your car whenever you want, but we can't take two cars while going to the same place." I don't care about his explanation because I zone it out.
We finally reach the hotel, and Tex,his personal driver, opens the doors to the SUV for us. We walk closely inside, and we are welcomed by a tall lady wearing the shortest skirt with a matching blazer, his PA of course. Her skin is flawless, and those red stilletos? Are they even formal wear?
"Mr. Elephant, come this way." She hooks up her arm with Qhawe's despite me doing the same. I snatch my man's arm away from hers.
"I'm Adelaide, his girlfriend. Next time, keep your filthy hands away from him." I give her a dead glare, but she rolls her eyes.
"Yes, ma'am." She mocks me before walking in front of us,leading us to wherever we are going.
"I love a jealous you." Qhawe whispers to me in the lobby, and I don't even glance at him. Instead, I stomp my foot on his, and he doesn't even react.
We are shown into our old penthouse. This is where Aiden is going to be staying for a while. We sit down while waiting for him. I feel pressed and decide to go to the bathroom.
When I come back,I hear from the laughter that it's no longer just the two of us. The two men stop laughing when they see me. My eyes traveled to the said Aiden, and he looks as I imagined. Intimidating. There's something about people in the mafia, and I think it's because of the terrible crimes they have committed. Their aura is dark, and Qhawe is too, but because I'm used to him,I no longer feel that way with him.
"Hi." I decide to break the silence.
"Hi. You must be Adelaide?" Aiden says, walking towards me and offering his hand for a handshake.
"In the flesh." I don't know what Qhawe told him about me.
"Finally, I meet the girl holding my brother by the balls." They both chuckles. That's not funny.
"I also get to meet the infamous Aiden. Everyone speaks about you like your name isn't to be uttered."
"Maybe it isn't, but we are family, so there's nothing to be afraid of." I nod before letting go of his hand.
I sit next to Qhawe on the couch and pick up his glass of whisky. He gives me a look that says I dare you to take a sip. It's not my fault that I'm pregnant. I put back the glass. Great,my life sucks. Till when do I have to wait till I drink some alcohol? I miss it.
"How did your sister get involved with Nathan?" Aiden asks. Even his accent shows that he's Italian. He looks like your typical Italian mobster from those novels Asa used to read.
"They met in a casino, had sex once, she fell pregnant and hunted down the baby daddy. Turns out it's Nathan fuckin' Laurent." I hate that man.
"Nathan is not someone to mess around with. You do know he's not going to go down without a fight? I'm talking about a massacre here."
"Does it have to be that deep? I just want him off my sister's back." Angie doesn't deserve this.
"He's wired differently. Ten years ago,he murdered my little sister. He's never afraid to wipe an entire lineage. I can't sacrifice my men for two little girls. This men have families. They have children."
"This is all messed up." I sigh. This whole ordeal gives me a headache.
"Don't stress. We'll fix it." Qhawe pulls me to him but I don't miss the look he's giving Aiden.
"Sure. We'll fix it." Aiden says. The door opens up after that and Olivia comes running in followed by her mother.
"Daddy!" Her little voice echoes through the penthouse.
"Princepessa." She gives her dad a hug. I love daddy and daughter's relationship. This was Asa and dad. That girl would die for her father. They were so close and inseparable.
"Hey Adelaide." That's Inaya.
"Hey Inaya."
"I want to apologize for what happened that day." She's talking about making it rain on me. I'm over that now. I have far more important things to worry about.
"It's water under the bridge."
"Great because I want your input on something." She pulls my hand and I stand up. She smiles at Qhawe but gives a dead stare to Aiden. Aren't they supposed to be a couple?
I follow her to the bedroom and we sit down on the bed.
"So...do you want a baby shower? The family is so excited and everyone would like to meet you." She says.
"Why a baby shower?"
"I think it's a beautiful excuse to have a get together as a family. I haven't seen Qhawe's mother in a while or his little sisters. I haven't seen one of my brothers in a year now. We are just so apart."
"I'll talk to Qhawe and we'll see if we are agreeing to this idea of yours."
"He's not going to agree but please convince him." She holds my hands.
"I'll try. Now,why aren't you happy to see your husband? I saw the look you gave him." She let go of my hands and stand up.
"He's not my husband." She reveals.
"I thought you were married?" I really had that impression.
"Our relationship is complicated. He's the father of my child and the only man I've ever slept with but he doesn't want to marry me."
"Then why are you still with him? Chose yourself." She doesn't have to settle with him.
"I love him. I love him so much and no matter how toxic our relationship is,I'll never leave him." Kìll me now. I'll never try to give anyone relationship advice.
