I want you to tell me that I look pretty
Even if you do
It's always because the conversation starts with me asking
"Do I look pretty today?"
And youll respond
"You always look pretty."
And I'll admit it makes me smile and gives me butterflys
But I'd rather you say it because you think it
I'd rather you say it because you look at me and think
"Wow she's so pretty like fall and feels like summer, she smells like the ocean and loves like no other."
Not because my words are in your mouth
Because everything I do is for you
Every day
I do my hair and makeup hoping you'll say
"Wow darling, you look beautiful today."
And I'll say
"Thank you my love, I'm glad you noticed."
Because all I do is make myself pretty for you
Hoping you'll see the efforts I make for just one stupid compliment
I don't have to do all this
I could simply stop streitning my hair
And doing my makeup for over and hour every day
I could throw away all my crop tops and short shorts
And only wear hoodies and sweatpants every day
But I don't
Because your opinion matters to me
YOU matter to me
And I want to know all my hard work for you is paying off
Just tell me I look pretty..
Like I tell you.
