Chapter 13: Weird Text

Bigla kong naaalala na bukas ko pala ipapasa ang Introduction. Kung natuloy ang family outing namin sa Calaguas, malamang ay hindi ko 'yun masa-submit on time dahil may plano kaming mag-stay 'dun for two days. Blessing in disguise na rin na mas pinili ko ang Birthday ng anak ni Brandon kesa sa outing kahit pa it turned out to be a disappointment dahil sa hindi inaasahang pagkakasakit ng adopted son niya.

Malapit na palang mag 12:00 AM when I checked the wall clock na nasa center ng kama ko. Andito ako ngayon sa aking study table while meticulously making a winning Introduction na ipapasa ko bukas sa Mr. Invincible na 'yun. This time, I'm very cautious in making a detailed Intro that doesn't sound like a conclusion. 'Yun kase ang mali ko e, parang nagconclude na ako na 'yun ang mangyayari kahit ang naatasan sa 'ming topic is more of a social experiment rather than a thesis. Sabi nga ni Sir, we can fake it but dapat ay hindi masyadong obvious ang pagkakapeke. Having those thoughts make me feel na this is gonna be something that will crack our heads. Goodluck sa 'min.

I'm feeling numb when I woke up in the morning. Para akong kasing gaan ng papel na even myself cannot understand. Maybe, it's something to do with what happened last night obviously. That's the first time my Mom beat me to death. Though my body feels weightless, nararamdaman ko naman ang sakit ng aking pwetan dahil sa pagkakapalo niya sa 'kin. Binilang ko 'yung paghampas niya ng tsinelas sa butt ko, and she hit me 20 times. For the first time in forever, napalo na niya ako ng pinakakatago niyang Giant Slippers, and to my horror, ngayon pa ako napalo kung kailan nagbinata na ako infront of my ever annoying Step Brother. I cannot blame her for what she did dahil kasalanan ko rin naman ang nangyari.

Everything feels perfunctory nang bumaba ako upang pumunta ng kusina. Hindi ko na-sight 'yung dalawa kaya malaya akong nakapag almusal without any awkwardness. After breakfast, nag-asikaso na kaagad ako papuntang school because I'm planning to submit the Intro as early as possible. Ayoko nang mangyari 'yung last time wherein akala ko'y hindi na ako makakapagpasa ng aking draft on time. When I went to Mr. Dimapaslang's office, I felt a sudden rush in my blood going to my cheeks kahit confident naman ako sa nagawa kong introduction. I don't know what's gonna happen but I readied myself if and only if he'll make another violent attack.

"Good Morning Sir," sabi ko in a low voice habang binubuksan ko ang pinto ng kanyang office. I saw him reading a news paper while drinking his coffee.

He didn't respond to my greeting pero he used his right hand to give me a sign na umupo ako. Habang papalapit sa silyang aking uupuan, hindi ko mapigilang kabahan at mag-overanalyze. Baka kase hanapan nanaman niya ako ng malaking butas sa Intro na ginawa ko. I cannot afford to fail in this subject dahil running for Magna/Summa Cum Laude ako. Isang bagsak lang sa isang subject, mawawala lahat ng pinaghirapan ko.

I confidently gave him the two-page Introduction and without further ado, he read it from start to finish.

"Nagstart na ba kayo?' he asked me after he finished reading it. I cleared my throat before I answered him.

"Yes," I confidently answered. "It started when we had an encounter," I vaguely answered to make him think.

My Introduction is composed of some events when Me and Brandon became acquaintances. It's like I'm narrating a story, a love story, kahit the affection is not present at this stage. My only weapon for the Introduction is 'Honesty' kahit na ang title ng topic namin is crying for something 'Romantic'. By this way, I can earn my Professor's trust in dealing with this crap. Fake it, but don't make the obvious.

"I'm impressed Mr. Lao. This is what I'm expecting of you," he gave me back the paper and smiled at me. Medyo nakaramdam ako ng relief when he approved my Introduction. Baka ikamatay ko literally kapag inokray, nireject, or worse, ibagsak niya ako sa subject na ito because I failed to impress him with that Initial requirement.
