A few hours after the first task was over, Cassie got dragged to a party in the Gryffindor common room. They were all celebrating Harry's extraordinary victory against the horntail, and everything was much better now that Harry and Ron were friends again.
When Harry had opened the egg and it turned out that it only wailed and screeched, they all shrugged their shoulders and decided to just celebrate instead. They drank butterbeer, ate delicious food that Fred and George nicked from the kitchen, and to Hermione's great disapproval, Cassie also tried firewhiskey for the first time. To say that she got drunk was an understatement.
They partied long into the night, until Cassie decided that she was tired and wanted to go back to the calm of the Slytherin common room. Fred walked with her to assure that she got there in one piece, and he hugged her goodbye when they reached the hidden entrance to the Slytherin common room.
"Night Cass, sleep well!" He said with a wink, before turning around to leave. She giggled at him, before muttering the password and stumbling down the stairs.
"Merlin, what- how much did you drink?" Someone suddenly said. Cassie spun around and had to grab onto the wall for support. "Uuuhhhm.... I don't remember?" She slurred with a shrug and a small giggle, before descending the last few steps. They were alone in the common room, and it seemed like Draco had been waiting for her to return.
"Gods, you're drunk." He said with a sigh, before grabbing her waist and helping her sit down on the couch, before sitting down next to her. She was spinning her head around, looking all around the room with interest. "Why did you kiss me?" She burst out suddenly, looking at him intently.
His head jerked back as he looked at her, taken aback by the question that he had no idea how to answer. "Uh, I just.." He trailed off, not knowing what to say. She seemed to get the gist of it however, because she sighed dramatically before leaning her head against the couch and closing her heavy eyes sleepily.
"I just, I don't know. It felt right, and you didn't stop me." He finally said, prompting her to look at him with her eyebrows slightly raised. "Did you tell anyone?" She slurred.
"No, I didn't." He said in barely more than a whisper. He looked at her for a while, she was clearly very tired. He sighed before standing up, hooking one arm around her legs and the other around her back, he picked her up bridal style.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face in his chest as he carried her up to her dorm where he quietly and discreetly placed her in her bed before he tucked her in.

The next day was a Hogsmeade day, but she decided against visiting the village. She wasn't feeling all too bad, but her head hurt like she had just been stampeded by a raging hippogriff. She was sitting in her common room, reading in front of the fire while wearing sweats and a comfy hoodie.
She heard a commotion coming from the stairs leading up to the boys' dormitories, and she looked up to see Draco descending the stairs. It was mid-afternoon, and most of the fourth years were in Hogsmeade. The common room was empty except for Cassie, Draco and a couple of first-years sitting in a corner, studying.
He went over to her and sat down in the armchair next to hers, and Cassie closed her book before absent-mindedly petting her cat, Jasmine. "What are you reading?" He asked her, pointing at the book in her lap. She looked down at it, then up at him again.
"Oh, uhm, just a fictional muggle romance book. I quite enjoy reading them, you know. They're very interesting." She told him, smiling slightly. He rolled his eyes with a playful smirk on his face.
"Want to go to Hogsmeade tomorrow, just the two of us?" He asked her, a slight blush creeping up his face as he said it. She looked over at him, slightly surprised.
"Why? You don't need to take me out just because we kissed and I cried on your shoulder the next day, you know." She responded, her tone slightly more harsh than she intended it to be. She didn't want things to get awkward between them, and she didn't even know how she felt about him.
"Never mind then, just thought you might want to, thas' all. I just thought-" He broke off, looking away with a sour expression on his face. "You just thought what? I don't want you, Draco."
He looked over at her when she spoke, before she plunged on without thinking. "We kissed once when we were stoned, that's it. It doesn't mean I want you, because I don't. Your father is a death eater and you constantly make cruel jokes about my family, why would I?" She finished harshly, before she tucked her book under her arm and picked up her cat and standing up to walk up the stairs. Guilt crept up on her and wound itself around her bones not unlike a vine growing around a patio as Cassandra walked up the stairs to the girls dormitories.
She already regretted the harsh words she had spoken to Draco, but she wanted to distance herself from him. She didn't want to get attached or let him in more than she already had. She would only get hurt if she did.
