Wyatt's POV
I was with the pack in Zombietown, waiting for Wakai and Zed to show up. I didn't understand her fascination with him. After all, her and Addison were together, weren't they? And the way Wakai had looked at me, spoken to me, hugged me in the library earlier surely proved that... No. I couldn't think like that. Our only mission was to find the moonstone.
Zed walked over, and Wakai was next to him, laughing. My insides boiled. "Hello wolves, allow me to introduce myself." He said. I glared at him, but he didn't notice, "I'm Zed, zombie, football star, presidential hopeful. When zombies first came to Seabrook, we were outsiders, too." I rolled my eyes. The female zombie - Eliza - stepped forward.
"Which is why you need a great president like Zed to represent you. We'd be honored if you guys joined us." Wynter growled. "Our pack is our pack. We don't need anyone else, so... Zoey stepped forward, "Who doesn't want more friends? Underneath all that fluffy hair, I bet you're a real softie." Wynter glared. "I am a mean, mean werewolf, kid. I am tough and rough." Zoey giggled, "Aww, you said 'ruff.' Like a sweet little puppy dog. Ruff, ruff!" Wynter growled again, "We are beasts of the forest,we will never be tamed." Zoey reached forward to pat Wynter. "Oh boy. Oh wow, that's great. Oh wow. Sorry." Wynter said sheepishly. Wakai giggled.
"We're nothing like you zombies." Willa said. Wakai shrugged, "You sort of are. Your necklace is powered, right?" "Kind of like an organic Z-band!" Eliza finished. "You two are smarter than he looks." "That necklace keeps you from fully wolfing out?" Zed reached towards Willa's neck and she slapped his hand away.
"The opposite. Our moonstones make us our true werewolf selves." Willa said sharply. "So without it you'd be human?" Addison asked, tilting her head and blinking her eyes innocently. "No, we'd die. We'd be nothing. Imagine how alive you'd feel if you didn't have to tamp things down. Hold back your true selves." Willa said to the zombies. Eliza nodded. "Actually, I've got this theory that zombies might've evolved beyond their need for Z-bands."
Zed chuckled awkwardly. "Z-bands are great. They help you fit in. And I think you guys would havea much better time at Seabrook if you just followed in our footsteps. Join a club, play football. I'll even teach you how to tackle." Zed said, pointing to Wynter who glared. "I'm pretty sure she already knows how." Wakai said. I snorted.
Wakai POV
Wynter yelled, and tackled Zed. I laughed. "I told you she nows how to tackle." I said. Wyatt chuckled, and Addison glared at me while running over to help Zed up.
I went to leave with Zed and the others, but Wyatt grabbed my arm. "Hey, um, can you give me -us - a tour of Zombietown? There's something called, uh, Froyo that I've been dying to try." I giggled at his awkwardness.
"Sure, Wyatt." I said. "Coach's Froyo cart is just over here, on the other side of the fence. Because of the reinstated monster laws and all..." I realised I was rambling and quickly shut my mouth.
I led the pack over to the Froyo cart. Coach gasped at the sight of the wolves and hid behind his cart. I sighed, "Coach, they're with me." Coach jumped back up.
"Wakai! Sorry I didn't see you, I thought you were another werewolf! Um, how's the elections for cheer captain going?"I sighed. Actually, it was not going well at all. Ever since Addison had found out that I was in the running for captain as well, she has been even worse to me. Plus my parents expect me to win, because Buchanans never, ever lose. And on top of all that, I had to chose between Bucky (my beloved brother) and Zed (my best friend) for president.
But I just shrugged and said, "Yeah, good. Me and Addison are running cheer practice tomorrow. Whoever leads the best will be cheer captain if Bucky becomes president." Coach nodded.I turned to the wolves. "Okay. There's Brains-and-Mocha-Crunch, Vanilla, Boysenberry Swirl, and Chocolate Fudge Brownie." The wolves made their choices, and I ordered for them. Then we went and sat in one of the gardens.
"This is delicious!" Mumbled Wyatt with his mouth full. Wynter nodded enthusiastically. Willa shrugged. "It's good. But not as good as Moonlight Stew." Some of the other werewolves nodded in agreement.
My phone dinged. It was Bucky, telling me to come home. "Sorry guys, I have to go. If I don't get home soon, Buck will assume you guys have killed me or something." Wyatt laughed, "Better get home, then."Wynter hugged me, "We'll come watch your practice tomorrow, 'Kai!" She promised. Wyatt nodded, also hugging me. I waved goodbye, and ran back to my house.
