The guard looked at Michi with a mixture of surprise and concern. "But you've already been through so much," he said, his brow furrowed. "And you're not properly trained for this kind of combat. It's far too dangerous."
Michi's expression hardened, a glint of determination in her eyes. "I used to be a member of the royal guard," she revealed, her voice steady and resolute.
The guard's eyes widened slightly. "Then why did you stop?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.
Michi's gaze faltered for a moment, a fleeting shadow of pain crossing her features. "Personal reasons," she replied, her tone clipped. "But this is no time for explanations. The town is in peril, and I won't abandon it."
The guard studied her for a moment, a newfound respect dawning on his face. "Very well," he conceded. "If you're willing to help, then I have a task for you."
Michi nodded, her attention fixed on the guard, ready to take on whatever he asked of her.
"Take Enzo to safety, with the rest of the evacuees," the guard instructed. "But first, I need you to deliver a message to the guards leading them. Tell them that the monster has grown far beyond their control, and they must get as far away as possible, for their own safety."
Michi's gaze shifted to Enzo, the young colt still trembling in her embrace. She knew the task was a delicate one, but she also understood the gravity of the situation.
"Consider it done," she said, her voice resolute. "I'll make sure the message is delivered, and Enzo is taken to safety."
The guard offered her a nod of acknowledgment, his horn glowing brighter as he prepared to return to the battle.
Michi cradled Enzo close, her expression softening as she met the colt's fearful gaze.
"Don't worry, Enzo," she said, her voice soothing. "I'll make sure you get to safety, and then I'll come back to help your sister Aimi, and the rest of Ponytown."
Michi's wings unfurled, the strong muscles propelling her and Enzo upward as they took flight. The young colt clung to her, his eyes wide with a mixture of fear and wonder as the ground below grew distant.
Michi's movements were graceful and efficient, her years of training as a royal guard shining through. She flapped her wings with practiced ease, cutting through the grey, ominous skies, leaving the raging battle behind.
Enzo's trembling slowly subsided as they gained altitude, the sounds of the monster's screeches fading into the background. Michi could feel the tension leave the colt's body, his grip on her loosening ever so slightly.
"It's alright, Enzo," she murmured, her voice soothing. "I've got you. We're going to get you to safety, and then I'll come back to help the others."
The unicorn guard below grew smaller and smaller, his glowing horn a beacon in the darkened streets of Ponytown. Michi knew she had to move quickly, to deliver the crucial message and ensure the safety of the evacuated ponies.
As she soared higher, the landscape below unfolded before her. She could see the distant signs of the evacuation, a stream of ponies making their way to safety, guided by the royal guards.
Michi's heart raced with a renewed sense of purpose. She had to get to them, to warn them of the monster's escalating threat. With a surge of determination, she increased her speed, her wings beating the air with powerful strokes.
The wind whipped through her mane, and Enzo clung tighter as they navigated the treacherous skies. Michi's focus remained unwavering, her mind solely fixed on the task at hand.
As she drew closer to the evacuated ponies, Michi could feel the weight of responsibility pressing down on her. She had to ensure their safety, no matter the cost. With a deep breath, she prepared to deliver the urgent message, her mind steeling for the challenges that lay ahead.
