- Maddy -
-- A Few Days Later --

I reached my arm forward but i felt no sight of Lauren so my eyes opened, getting an understanding that i was actually alone.

Taking a small scan around, the bedroom was quiet itself so i carefully pushed myself sitting. The utter sickness waved over me, remembering every shot that i had down last night whilst hanging out with a couple of friends.

Called it a light party before starting. I can't say it was light from how i'm feeling this morning.

I took in a few breaths. Calming down my headache before standing up and walking straight into the bathroom.

My eyes examined my red and puffy face through the mirror, every single part of me regretting the amount i had actually downed.

I swear, i think there's only one thing that will wake me up which is a cold shower. My oversized shirt came off, setting it aside before stepping into the shower.

First time in this hotels shower. I think the more i stared across the buttons, the more confused i got. Way too modern for me. Some had symbols on them but most didn't so i just decided to go with my gut feeling and pressed one.

The water immediately started to gush through the shower head however it took me a second to acknowledge that it was steaming hot water.

"Fuck!" I yelped the word out, going in to press it again which thankfully shut it off. "Maddy!" The sudden yell had me flinch and i immediately turned my head to look through the glass wall, seeing Lauren rush in.

"What? What's wrong?" I questioned after pulling the door open, completely lost about why her face is spread with worry.

"I- Uhh. Heard you wake up. Feeling okay?" The woman seemed to of eased out but approached me with a visibly forced smile.

"Babe, i'm fine. Perfectly okay. The water has been set to the hottest but i'll figure it out. Didn't have to worry so much by rushing over here because of it."

"I'm not worried, sweetheart. What were you gonna do though? I- well, i ordered breakfast. Maybe you want to come eat it now?" She practically pulled me out the shower, carefully brushing her fingers across my cheeks but despite how discreet she made it, i could tell she was examining my face or something about it.

"Why did you pull me out? I wanted to shower, babe." I discarded her obvious examining and rather nudged her about her actions however i was about to go back in but Lauren's hands had grabbed my face, pulling me in for a kiss.

"I'm surprised you hadn't asked for a morning kiss yet so there." Our lips parted, hearing her speak right away. "Okay. Yes. Thank you. Did forget but-"

"The coffee is gonna get cold. Let's go?" Her hand had slipped in mine, ready to lead me with her but i stayed put. "Lauren, please, it's okay! If it's gonna be cold then i'll order it again. Right now i just wanna shower real quick and then i can join you in the kitchen."

"We can shower together. How about that?" Her smile turned into a smirk, holding me closer to truly showcase her want about it.

"Babe, i'm not in the mood right now. Besides i wanna take a quick one so there's no point for you to come in with me. One minute in and out." I was still determined and pulled away, stepping back inside.

"Sweetheart, please. We can go to the beach after breakfast. No need to take a shower." Lauren still was not giving up, at this point making me sense that something is wrong.

"What's going on? I only wanna rinse off! How did you even hear me wake up from being all the way in the kitchen?"

"God, nothing is wrong! I just wanna have breakfast with you. So how about we go now or if you wanna take a shower that bad then let's take one together?"

"Lauren!" I yelled back. "What's wrong with you?! Are you afraid to leave me alone or something? I'm not a child. It's okay!"

"Baby, just- god. Sorry. You said quick shower, right? I actually could brush my teeth whilst you're showering then." She spoke out and i watched as she went in to grab her toothbrush.

"Lauren," I called out, getting her attention back on me, "what is this about? Me, right? You think that- babe, i already once told you that we shouldn't ever talk about what happened. Can you please let me escape the past? You're making it worse for me by doing this."

"Maddy! No! This isn't about that! I-"

"It is. You were practically guarding the door just in case you hear the shower turn on and for the love of god, have you not understood that the only reason i'm still here is because of you." I confessed, clearly having Lauren realize something as her expression eased out.

I stepped out though, actually grabbing my oversized shirt to put it back on. "Sorry. Baby, i'm so sorry. I just- when i heard you yell right after hearing the water turn on, i kinda- it's hard to understand a lot of things even until now."

"Lauren," i closed the distance between us, "i literally had no clue how to use that dumb shower. That's all there is." I smiled out, actually managing to brighten up the mood.

"But besides this stupid situation that just happened, i want you to remember something because of it." I said, getting all her attention.

"Back then i had asked life to make something good happen to me. Yes, it brought me to the most devastating situation because i guess that cutting the pain off completely would have been the right decision but it wasn't." I took a pause, pulling her closer to me.

"You, Lauren, you happened to me which was the best thing i could have ever asked for." I finished but Lauren's smile hadn't exactly widened.

"You're so brave and quiet that i forget you're suffering. I'm sorry, Maddy. Extremely sorry." I heard her say.

"Baby! Stop! I'm not suffering! Yes, people don't fully recover from stuff like that but that doesn't mean that you can't ignore it until a trigger. So what i want from you is to forget about what happened too. Like it never happened. Don't bring it up anymore."

"Come here." Her arms immediately wrapped around me, forcing me into a tight hug however we had stumbled right out the bathroom.

"I want you to eat with me nonetheless so no more excuses." I heard her say and before i could move away, she only grabbed my hand, leading me towards the kitchen.
