"Please knock before coming in, Boruto."
"I'm sorry..." Boruto exhaled sharply as he took his seat next to Sarada.
"What's the matter? You seem down," Sarada asked, her voice filled with concern. Boruto remained silent for a whole minute before replying cheerfully.
"Nothing at all! Say, Sarada, I was wondering if I could bake you something today!" Boruto said happily, leaving Sarada confused.
"B-bake? Do you even know how to turn on the stove?" Sarada asked, raising her eyebrow.
"Huh!? Are you being serious right now? Because I am the best cook in my family after my mom," Boruto said proudly as he stood up.
"I don't want to believe that," Sarada said, following him as she sighed.
"You don't have to, because you'll see it," Boruto said in a sing-song voice as he dragged Sarada to the department store to buy the ingredients needed for baking a cake.
As they walked down the street, the sun shone brightly, casting a warm glow over the village. Boruto couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. This simple errand felt like an adventure when he was with Sarada. He took her hand, intertwining their fingers, and smiled at her.
"You know, Sarada, spending time with you like this makes me really happy," Boruto said, looking at her with a loving expression.
Sarada felt a blush creep up her cheeks. "You're such a dork, Boruto," she teased, though she couldn't hide the smile on her face.
"Maybe, but I'm your dork," Boruto replied, grinning widely.
They reached the department store, and Boruto grabbed a basket.
"Alright, let's get everything we need. Flour, sugar, eggs... What kind of cake do you like, Sarada?"
"Hm, I really like chocolate cake," Sarada admitted, feeling a little shy about her sweet tooth.
"Chocolate cake it is!" Boruto declared, leading the way through the aisles. He picked up all the ingredients with surprising efficiency, and Sarada couldn't help but be impressed.
"You actually know what you're doing," she remarked as he carefully selected a bar of high-quality dark chocolate.
"Told you, I'm a great cook!" Boruto said, winking at her. "Just wait till you taste this cake."
"Hey, Boruto, can you handle the ingredients? I need to check on something real quick,"
Sarada said, her voice steady but with an undertone of tension.
"Sure, no problem," Boruto replied, not noticing her slight unease. He focused on picking out flour, sugar, and other essentials while Sarada made her way toward the health and beauty section.
Sarada's heart raced as she approached the shelves. She glanced around, making sure no one was watching, and quickly grabbed a pregnancy test, slipping it into her basket. She felt a mix of anxiety and hope, her mind swirling with possibilities.
Meanwhile, Boruto hummed to himself as he carefully selected the best ingredients for their cake. He noticed Sarada's absence and called out,
"Sarada, you need any help?"
"No, I'm good!" Sarada responded quickly, hurrying back to join him. She forced a smile, trying to act natural.
Boruto raised an eyebrow but didn't press further. "Alright, let's go check out then."
They made their way to the checkout counter, and Sarada subtly placed the pregnancy test among the other items. Boruto was too busy chatting with the cashier about baking tips to notice. Once they paid and packed everything up, they headed back home.
