Chapter 57 ~ 1st Round

Y/N left the room leaving her brother behind as she tried to get herself ready for the round ahead of her. It was nerve-wrecking to say the least, but she had to do good. She just made a big deal about still having the sports festival, it'd be stupid if she lost. She breathed in, "1... 2... 3... " then she breathed out "1... 2 ... 3...:" 

"Hey Y/N...."

Y/N looked up seeing a battered and beaten Izuku, "Bro what happened!?" She questioned jogging up to the place he was barely standing, "What happened to not talking-" She held his hand in her noticing he had two broken fingers, "Mr. Aizawa is definitely going to kill you after this.." 

He chuckled at her comment to cover up his wince at her sudden touch. "Yeah, that didn't really go as planned but I won!!! I was on my way to go see recovery girl and just wanted to wish you luck on your match!!!" Izuku smiled his cheerful smile and it melted away some of the pent up stress Y/N was feeling. Everything with the sports festival, Endeavor, Kean, the attacks on the school... the attack on her... She was beginning feel as though she shouldn't have fought so hard to keep the festival open. That maybe Principal Nezu and Mr. Aizawa was correct, maybe she should have taken a break, was she even good enough for this... she was conflicted, if that was even a word to describe the turmoil in her mind. 

However seeing one of her long time friends become something through this game made her feel like it was all worth it. "Thanks Izuku! I am so glad to hear you won!" she said excitedly. 

"Of course!" Izuku replied with just as much eagerness, "You are fighting Aoyama correct? Well he shouldn't be difficult for you at all," he quickly continued in defense of his classmate "Not that Aoyama is bad or anything, just that your quirk compared to his has more uses, he has a bigger lag time than you do and well, i guess he may just have to work harder a bit- you're quirk is great but heavily relies on your energy levels which you have no way of knowing what they are since you don't have your support items with you... if he could manage to tire you out there is a possibility of winning the round"

"Whoa there Izuku... don't go exposing me there" Y/N wryly chuckled. Izuku's observational skills was definitely  something to write home about. "Besides- I'm not only my quirk Izuku..." Y/N smiled at him once more. 

Sheepishly Izuku waved his hands in a 'no' motion "That's not what I meant! Of course you are not your quirk! I just mean, everyone's planning on showing off their quirks to the pros so i just thought you were also going to show off yours as well! I mean your quirk is absolutely amazing, incredibly powerful and super versatile! I wouldn't be surprised at all if you won these games. I on the other hand," He looked at his broken fingers, something very clearly bothering him "Just lucky I guess-" 

Y/N's brows furrowed looking at her friend, she hated that word, "Luck has nothing to do with it Izuku. You got to this point because you put in the hard work- remember that alright. No matter what anyone says, you did not get here by luck. You are strategic, incredibly smart, and you have a very powerful quirk as well, even though the backlash is massive..." she felt so strongly as she spoke, almost as if she was more so speaking to herself than him. 

Suddenly there was cheering coming from the arena, Present Mic was working for his paycheck, hyping up the crowd for the upcoming match. Y/N's match. 

"Are you Read-ayyyy!!!" Present Mic's boomed in the speakers. The applause and cheers from the crowd echoed throughout the the entire stadium. "Let's hope that gaudy belt serves some kind of purpose! It's Yugo Aoyama from the hero course!!" 

Once Y/N heard that, she knew it was her cue, she waved off Izuku, making a mental note to finish the conversation another time and made her way into the arena. A different set of nerves creeping on her neck. But something else lingered, a new sense of confidence and drive. She had to stop worrying about everyone else. She had to focus on this game, not for Kean but for herself. 

All this time, she was becoming a hero to prove something, to Star, her mom, to kean... This was her moment, not theirs. 

"Y/N L/N from the Hero Course everyone!" Present Mic boomed as she stepped onto the arena facing Aoyama. "Sorry" she mouthed to a very confident looking Aoyama. 

"Now let's get started!!! Beggginnn!" Present Mic announced followed with cheers and applause from the crowd. As soon as the match started. Y/N quickly charged for Aoyama, she knew how his quirk worked inside and out. It was one of the more simpler quirks they had in thier class. He can shoot his lasers but not for very long. She just had to tire him out. 

Almost as soon as she charged for him, Aoyama's lasers went off in full speed, yet he didn't move one inch. Just firing off seemingly with no other plan than to land a hit. Which was unsuccessful as much. Y/N easily dodged the quirks, displaying her agility to the crowd, her face focused. She leaped over the first beam, then the second, then the third all the while advancing to where Aoyama stood. 

"Here's a nice big one!" Aoyama exclaimed pushing out his hips creating a large laser. Y/N could only smirk as she finally used a part of her quirk flingiung herself up in the air at a considerable height to dodge it. 

"Gotta try harder than that Aoyama!" Y/N exclaimed landing almost perfectly behind him "Sorry man-' she swiftly kicked his legs causing him to fall over as sh subdued him on the ground. 

"And just like that! Aoyama is out!! Y/N advances to the next round!" Midnight announced to the crowd. "That's an indisputable victory if I've ever seen one sports fans!" The crowd went crazy but Y/N caught a few strays. 

"Was that even fair?" 

"Poor guy never stood a chance with her?" 

"I can see why she got kidnapped, a quirk as versatile as hers, any Villain would be out for her" 

This caused a frown on Y/N's face, as she helped Aoyama off the ground and dusted him off. Her deep frown alerted Aoyama but he did not pay it too much mind, knowing they weren't close friends. They both exited the arena, Aoyama leaving with Recovery Girl's robots, and Y/N making her way to where the rest of the class was sitting, noticing Endeavor was not in the crowd. She thought it was weird. Given how much Kean had hyped up the fact that Endeavor would be watching, he was no where to be found. 

"Y/n!" 

She looked up from the stairs seeing both Sero and Kaminari eagerly waving to her. A huge smile spread across her face. "Hey guys!" She jogged up the rest of the way and sat between the two of them "Ohmygosh Y/N that was incredible! Have you been holding out on us?" Kaminari joked slightly nudging her shoulder, "I knew you were agile but oh my gosh It looked like you were almost flying!" 

Y/N chuckled slightly "Train more Kami- maybe then you'll be as great as me!"

Somewhere from behind there was a 'tsk' causing y/N to look back her eyes meeting Bakugo's "I don't think it was that amazing, you're up to something Elf ears, you better bring your all and don't hold back like you did with twinkle toes over there." 

Bakugo didn't give her a chance to respond and only walked off to god knows where. Sero put his arms around Y/N shoulders and in an effort to redirect the conversation said out loud, "I'm up against your boyfriend next." 

"Whoever could that possibly be? Last I checked I was super super single!" Y/N cocked an eyebrow at him 

"We broke up!" Kami exclaimed his hand clutching his chest, "How am I just finding this out now!"

"Oh Kami baby i'm sorry- I should've... I thought you knew?" Y/N tried hard to stifle her laughter but could not anymore seeing  Kaminari smile. 

as their laughter subsided, Y/N took a breath, "Good luck Sero, you know I'll be rooting for you?" 

"Yeah Of course, good to know you'll be cheering for me and not icy hot over there." He gave Y/N a hug before getting up to prep for his match, "Bye y'all!" 

"bye!"
