The television hummed softly in the background, it flickered images of the U.A Sports festival across the dimly lit precinct. Almost all the officers gathered around the screen, intently watching it all go down, ignoring the piles of paperwork on their desk.

The fight between Midoriya and Todoroki was beyond intense, unlike any of the officers has seen in their lifetime. The room was silent, no one spoke as ice and fire clashed against Midoriya's power. The shockwaves were visible even through the screen.

Then came the explosion. The screen was momentarily clouded with debris, but once that cleared. It was obvious who had won the round.

"Man," an officer muttered, rubbing their chin, "These kids are beyond intense. No restraint. You see the way that green-haired kid pushed the other?"

"He's sure got something to prove-"

"Show off- look at him he's broken all that to prove what? You had 0 quirk training? Why'd they even let that kind of kid into U.A."

Detective Tsukauchi momentarily glanced at the officers gathered at the rest of the officers gathered at the TV, making a mental note to put a child lock in. His gaze returned to his file, a big Y/N L/N written across the cream colored envelope. It'd been a week since the kidnapping that took their nation by storm. Yet, the envelop was thin, barely thicker than a single sheet of paper. They had almost 0 clues, and was not any step closer to solving the case.

His fingers tapped against the solid wood of his desk, he had to have been missing something. A whole week, and they had almost nothing.

"Sir!"

Detective Tsukauchi looked up from his desk at detective Tsutomi, "Yes?"

"The forensic report came in-" She held a similar cream colored folder in his direction, "We were able to estimate where they held Y/N." She sighed in defeat.

"And?"

"It's weird, everything about this case it weird, almost impossible even," her jaw clenched as she eyed the folder, "We think Y/N was held about 2 blocks away from her house." She flung the folder onto Tsukauchi's desk, the flimsy-ness of the folder matching the flimsy-ness of their case.

Tsukauchi's brow raised, "...Two blocks?"

"Two damn block," Tsutomi echoed, her voice laced with growing frustration, "We had officers all over that damn place. Everyone was looking for her, U.A, Endeavor, hell the media had that girl's face everywhere, and she was right down the street the entire time."  Her chair scraped against the concrete floor of the precinct as she at down, "How the hell did we miss this?"

"Let's not dwell on the past and focus on what we do have." Tsukauchi pressed noticing his subordinate's frustration, sympathizing with her. There was a younger version of him that had experienced the exact same thing in his first years as a detective. A weird cold case, that went unsolved for 16 years. Drove him mad, a unexplainable fire, till this day haunts his every waking moment. He hoped to spare Tsutomi from the very prison he finds himself.

"What do we have? A whole lot of nothing," Adam said as he lazily flipped through the forensic file, "No prints, no DNA, no leads, no footage, no witnesses, no one saw the bastards that took her." Adam scoffed, "They seemed to have just vanished. But who truly cares? We have the girl back-"

"We have the girl back, but what's to stop them from going after her again? Or one of her classmates? Your brother even," Tsutomi shot him a glare.

"I'm just being a realist here, we have the girl now and at the end of the day isn't that what truly matters?"
