Chapter 23
One hour slowly passed since Ryzel was wheeled into the operating room. Blue can't calm down so he paced back and forth the hallway. He is a walking ball of tension and nerves as he keeps on checking if the light above the door of the operating room is still on. His limbs are trembling and cold, dread filling up his system with his belly twisting into unpleasant knots. He feels like he's about to puke from too much nerves any second now.
"For the love of... Blue! Will you relax and sit down?" Trevor hissed, catching Blue's attention. Blue stilled but his foot was tapping on the floor as he brushed his hair nervously, trying his best to relax but he's just so worried that something bad will happen. He knows that he should not be thinking that but he can't help himself.
"What if they fuck up, Boss? That's Ryzel in there!" Blue pointed to the operating room, his voice tight and controlled. That's his beloved under the knife and if something goes wrong, Blue does not know what to do. Can he still go back to living without Ryzel in it? He tried, but he knew how dull those months were. How empty and monochrome his life was since Ryzel disappeared.
Trevor released a deep sigh and stared at Blue. "We have competent doctors here, Blue. If you must know, Edward is a prominent figure in his field. The operation will go well." Trevor understands what Blue is going through. He was in the same situation when Jesse was hospitalized because of his mother and when Jesse bled. Of course he fucking knew the frustration of being able to do nothing nothing but wait. "The only thing we can do is wait, Blue. What's going in there is out of our control."
Blue swallowed and sat beside Trevor. Earlier, Blue and Edward discussed how Ryzel's operation would proceed. Edward promised that there's minimal risk that the worst-case scenario would happen, which is, Ryzel dying on the table.
"I'm just so worried, Boss. Ryzel has been through so much. He does not deserve this. He should be living his life, not suffering from this kind of disease." Blue rubbed his face and felt his chest tighten in pain. He sucked a breath and blinked away the tears slowly forming in his eyes.
My baby. Blue wondered how Ryzel was able to endure everything without anyone beside him except Trevor and Edward. "Was he scared?"
Trevor sighed again before uttering a reply. "He was terrified. Ryzel may look tough, but we all know that he had no choice but to be strong. His father was after him and when he finally got his freedom, he got sick. It's bound to fuck you up in so many levels."
Blue gritted his teeth, swallowed hard and wiped the tears. There's no use regretting the past; the only thing Blue can do for now is to pray and beg the heavens above for Ryzel to be safe. At this moment, he needs some support, and it's his brother.
Blue excused himself for a moment and looked for a quiet area. He fished out his phone but it almost fell to the floor because of his shaky hands. He took a deep breath and dialed Rouge's number. Blue didn't have to wait long because Rouge answered it immediately.
"Hey, fucker. You finally remembered to call me," Rouge mocked but Blue dismissed it. He had no time to humor his brother. He wants Rouge to help him calm down.
"I'm at the hospital."
"What?!" Rouge stepped out of the boxing ring and removed his gloves, his phone stuck between his shoulder and ear as he headed to a more private area. "What the fuck are you doing there?"
Blue choked a gasp and with a trembling voice, he replied. "Ryzel... my baby's operation is..."
Rouge was very confused. His brother is sobbing hard but what caught his attention was that Blue called Ryzel baby. His questions were soon answered when Blue shared to Rouge what happened since he left home, albeit while sobbing, heaving deep breaths.
