Chapter 27

"Why did Mom order us to buy these?" Rouge pointed to a box of yogurt drinks and some fruit-flavored yogurt.

"Beats me." Blue was also confused but went anyway. He remembered that Ryzel's supply was about to run out so he also bought three boxes of yogurt drinks and one box of yogurt.

The twins headed home not knowing that Ryzel was at their house, sweating cold bullets and his chest thumping a mile a minute.

"Did you know that you're all Amelia can talk about?" Marcus shared, hoping to ease Ryzel's tension. Sure, Marcus felt bad that his son suffered when Ryzel left, but he was a cool-headed man. He knew that Ryzel must have a deep reason for doing so and when he heard from Rouge what happened at their major operation, Marcus decided to give Ryzel the benefit of the doubt.

Amelia was the opposite; all she could think about was that Blue was hurt and her son was devastated when Ryzel left.

Ryzel blinked at Marcus. "I didn't know. We just met briefly at the hospital."

Marcus grinned, amused. "Amelia told me that she met a very handsome man and if you were not involved with someone, she will do everything to hook you up with Blue," Marcus told Ryzel who was now gaping at him.

Ryzel held his breath, unable to think. But then, he remembered what Rouge told him; that he did not make a good impression with his disappearing act, leaving Blue, Amelia's favorite son, inconsolable. "I am very flattered, but how will I tell her now?"

"She was not able to get your name?"

Ryzel shook his head. "I never got the chance. Either one of us was rushing," Ryzel sighed again and rubbed his temples.

Marcus nodded, still amazed that Amelia does not know that she was actually speaking to the man who broke her son's heart. "We'll help you; don't worry so much. You just had major surgery and stress is not good while you're recovering."

"Who told?" Ryzel smiled at Marcus' words. Contrary to popular opinion, Marcus emanates a kind aura.

"Rouge. That son of mine can't keep his mouth shut; well, except with the fact that Blue already has a boyfriend." Ryzel lifted his brow. "Yeah, he told me too but not Amelia. That's something," Marcus snickered.

"That's good, but..." Ryzel fidgeted and clenched his fists to stop them from shaking. "Won't I ruin this evening, with me being here? Blue mentioned that this is supposed to be a special event?" Ryzel would rather leave and live up to his reputation as someone who always runs away from tough situations than to make everybody uncomfortable with his presence.

Ryzel swallowed hard and was about to stand up and rush outside when Amelia re-emerged from the kitchen. She narrowed his gaze at Marcus upon seeing her guest's discomfort.

"I gave you one job, Marcus, and you let me down," Amelia said in displeasure then turned to Ryzel softly. "I'm so sorry, darling. I shouldn't have left you with this brute. He's not really blessed with social interaction."

Marcus opened his mouth to protest but shut his mouth with one glare from his wife. "Amelia, he did nothing wrong," Ryzel tried to defend Marcus who had been nothing but kind to him.

Amelia snorted. "I doubt that. If I didn't return, you would have high-tailed your way out of here," Amelia surmised and Ryzel gave him a guilty smile.

"I'm sorry."

Amelia sighed and squeezed Ryzel's arm for comfort. "No matter; why don't you taste some of the dishes that I cooked while we wait for my sons?" Amelia could see his husband's betrayed expression and Ryzel noticed it so he decided to take a step back. Ryzel assumed that Marcus thought he was imposing too much by being there.
