Chapter 28

"You orchestrated this feast to welcome Ryzel into the family?" Blue exclaimed in surprise, needing confirmation from his mother. They just finished their dinner and Ryzel was comfortably sitting behind the kitchen counter, sipping his yogurt drink. Rouge went up to his room to freshen up while Marcus sat beside Blue, enjoying a cup of coffee.

"Of course. I want my son-in-law to feel at home," Amelia sweetly answered and brushed Ryzel's hair affectionately.

Ryzel's cheeks warmed as he threw a grateful smile to Amelia. "Thanks, Mom. I appreciate this. Can I bring some back to our place?" Ryzel enjoyed Amelia's cooking and his food baby is proof of that.

"Of course, dear. I already packed you some," Amelia replied.

"Love, did you leave some potato salad for me?" Marcus asked, hopeful. Amelia loves to cook but she only makes potato salad during occasions. It's her specialty after all.

"No. I gave them all to my gorgeous son," Amelia referred to Ryzel and Ryzel couldn't stop the wide grin. "I know you loved it," Amelia added and Ryzel bobbed his head happily. Ryzel felt his heart swell in joy from Amelia's generous treatment and he could get used to this.

"Thanks, Mom. Oh, before I forget, I brought gifts." Ryzel rushed to the living room while Blue just stared at his boyfriend, a stupid grin on his face.

"Mom, thank you. You don't know how much this means to us, especially to Ryzel," Blue said with a voice thick with emotion. Blue knew all about Ryzel's past and seeing his mother act like a motherly figure to Ryzel just got Blue overwhelmed.

Amelia may not know the reason behind his son's words, but she just nodded in agreement. "It's not hard to love him, son.

Ryzel entered carrying his gifts. He gave the paper bag to Amelia and handed the other one to Marcus who was surprised at the act. "Me too?" Marcus breathed out, excitement glimmering in his eyes.

"Of course, though I'm not sure if you like it. Since I don't know what kind of things you like, I just bought an item that Boss Trevor loved." Now, that piqued Marcus' curiosity even more. He immediately opened the bag and almost fell on his seat when he saw the content.

Even Blue was surprised because he did not see Ryzel buying such an expensive gift. Although he accompanied Ryzel, the man did not let Blue see what were the items he bought.

Marcus let out a string of profanities, his eyes wide in amazement as he examined the item. "I... Do you know how expensive this is?" Marcus referred to the whiskey priced at around fifty grand.

"I guess? I didn't really pay attention. How about you, Mom? Did you like your gift?"

Amelia was in the same state as her husband. Her eyes almost popped open when she saw the state of the art coffee machine she knew priced at around thirty grand. After all, she has been eyeing said product for months now but she was not amenable to spending such a large amount.

Ryzel was conflicted. Both Marcus and Amelia seemed afraid to take the item so his upturned lips turned downwards and his lavender eyes now dull. "You don't like it, huh? I'll just return them-"

"No!" Ryzel was stunned at the vocal objection. Blue almost guffawed at his parent's reaction. He took note of the fact that his boyfriend doesn't know the concept of buying gifts with reasonable prices. Still, he is happy that Ryzel was able to make his parents ecstatic.

"We love it, son. Thank you. I'll savor this," Marcus grinned and immediately placed said liquor in his liquor cabinet.

"Me too, darling. I'll use this thoroughly," Amelia replied and went around to give Ryzel a tight hug. Ryzel giggled and nodded, delighted that Marcus and Amelia loved what he bought for them.
