"Yeah, yeah, leave it behind and let's eat pastries," Niharika said with a grin.Tranika sighed and ordered pastries for Niharika. All four of them were now sitting in the garden area, enjoying their coffee.
"How is Atharva so attached to you after only meeting twice?" Vriti asked Tranika.
"I've met her more than twice. Remember when I used to pick you up from the hospital? You introduced me to her," Atharva replied.
"Guysss, where are my pastries?" Niharika interjected.
"Shut up, Niharika, the order is on the way," Tranika said.
Niharika sulked and replied, "Okay."
Atharva laughed and motioned for Niharika to come over. He ruffled her hair and said, "You really are a child." He laughed again.
Niharika made a crying face, prompting Vriti to ask Atharva not to irritate her.
After an hour, Atharva and Vriti decided to leave. The girls made plans to meet the following Sunday. Atharva wanted to join, but the girls turned him down, leaving him sulking.
Atharva and Vriti headed home, Vriti lived alone since her parents were in Australia, while Atharva lived with Adhiraj's family. Atharva's parents had died in an accident, and Adhiraj's family, who had a close bond with Atharva's, had taken him in.
Atharva was lost in thought about Tranika, remembering the first time he saw her a few months ago. It felt like he had found the sister he lost five years ago. He always wanted to talk to her but knew Tranika didn't like people interfering in her life. He never dared to start a conversation. However, when Tranika took him to the hospital, he couldn't hold back his emotions and asked her to call him Bhai. He was amazed by how Tranika treated him. Now, he cherished their sisterly bond and was fiercely protective of her, like a true elder brother.
NEXT DAY
Tranika spent her whole day in her office attending to people's problems. She finished early and headed home. Upon entering, she was shocked to see what was happening in the drawing room.
The entire drawing room was filled with balloons and chocolates, which irritated Tranika. "What are you doing here, Mr. Chaudary, and what is all this?" she asked Adhiraj.
Adhiraj was mesmerized by her. How could anyone look so beautiful in a cotton saree, he thought. He couldn't take his eyes off her until he was distracted by Niharika.
"Adhiraj came here to apologize," Niharika said.
"With 100 boxes of chocolates and balloons?" Tranika asked.
"Yes," Niharika replied with a grin. "He's a good man, Ika, and I like him," she said to Tranika. Adhiraj smirked.
Tranika felt a pang of jealousy. How could her Niti like him?
