Kelli's POV
I suppose you're expecting a happy ending, the crowd accepting my sexuality... That's not the case. Happy endings don't come around in real life, you don't get your ending the way you want it. I remember the one time I thought it would be okay... Sitting on the shore with the love of my life. Only to know deep down on the inside that out ending wouldn't be pleasant, so I focused on the present. That worked, until suspicions began and, well... You know how it goes. I'm currently burying my dead girlfriend, Julia.
"You there! Can you promise loyalty and fight until the end?!"
I turned around, my eyes meeting two tall, armored men. I stood up, my shovel held tightly in both of my hands.
"Answer the question!"
"That depends on what I'm from flying for," I said, watching them glare at me.
"Come with us!" The yelled, grabbing my arms and making the shovel fall from my hands. They pulled me into a cart, watching my every move.
"So... Why are we going?" I asked, scooting uncomfortably in the cushioned seat.
"No questions!"
___________________________We arrived at a large castle, the stone walls darkened by the rain. The cart rolling closer to the entrance. Once the cart stopped at the castle doors, they grabbed my arms again and pulled me to the doors.
They brought me through the tall threshold, revealing a large room with a large throne at the end.
"Where is the queen?" One of the guards yelled, waiting for one of the servants to come.
"She is in the bath." Came a voice from the said case on the right.
"Go introduce yourself. Today, you become a servant of the queen."
They pushed me to the ground and I stood up, running my sore arms as I searched the halls for the bathroom. Once I reached the end of the third hall I had checked, a stopped at a door. I knocked, waiting for an answer.
"Yes?"
"Um, hello. I'm looking for the queen, I'm a new servant. Do you know where I can find her?" I asked.
"I'm the queen, come in!"
I opened the door, the smell of different soaps in the air. I looked down at the woman in the bathtub, her glistening knees sticking out of the water, her chestnut hair stick to her cheeks. Her head was against a towel on the edge of the tub and her eyes were closed.
"You must be the new maid." She said, opening her eyes and turning her head toward me.
"I guess, I was minding my own business when your guards brought me here."
She looked at me, her eyes scanning my clothes and features, "You're wearing pants."
I looked down at my clothes; tight brown pants, a tattered, cream, and loose shirt, and a pair of boots.
"I'm not fond of skirts," I explained.
"Come here," she commanded, her hand waving in her direction.
I walked over to her, sitting on the edge of the tub.
She grabbed my shirt, pulling me into the run accidentally. My knees landed on either side of her thighs. My eyes wide, and my hands in the area of the tub behind her head.
"I'm sorry... Ms..?"
"You will address me as Mistress. You are like my butler," she informed. She used her other hand to move my face. "You're a pretty one. What's your name?"
"Kelli, Kelli Giddish," I said, eyes still wide.
"I'm Mariska, but you know how to address me. Now, get out and get changed into your new clothes. You have a choice between pants or a gown."
"Do you need any help?" I asked, standing over her lap.
"...You could help me dry off."
I got out of the bath, water dripping off of my clothes. She stood up as well, my eyes looking at her bare body. She was looking at me, a scarlet blush covering my cheeks, "Sorry."
I picked up a towel by the bath and started drying her back. Once I reached her chest, she flinched. I stopped, watching her face.
"Are you okay?" I asked, backing away.
"Get out!" She screamed.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"I said get out!!" She screamed, slapping my face with brutal force. I fell back, scooting out into the hall.
