Mariska's POV

I watched in horror as Kelli opened the door, and Julia's face appeared. She smiled at Kelli, speaking to her briefly before focusing her bright gaze on me. She smirked darkly as she saw the fearful features in my face.

"It's a pleasure to see that beautiful face again, Queenie," Julia spoke in a low tone. She went to push Kelli out of the way. Kelli grabbed her arm with what looked like a painfully tight grip because Julia's eyelids were almost completely closed. "Don't be so harsh, Kelli. Remember when you were sweet and gentle around me?"

"That was before I knew what you really are. You won't be in ten feet of my mistress without me beside her."

"Lighten up; this was supposed to be a fun weekend, just us girls!" Julia chirped her hand opening with fake enthusiasm. Kelli reluctantly let go out her arm, still watching her figure carefully as she approached me. A velvet covered glove came to my cheek, stroking the tense skin softly.

"Please stop..."

She lowered her hand as Kelli came close to her face. Kelli stepped in between us and took Julia's luggage. "I'll show you to your room, Ms. Alfred."

Kelli walked up the right set of stairs out of the two separating staircases. Julia glanced at me continuously as she lingered behind Kelli. I walked to my "family" room; although you could barely consider it a family room without family. I sat down in a chair with a wooden frame and a seat made of woven material. I waited for Kelli to return to my side, and I mentally prepared for the longest weekend of my life.

Julia came into the room first with Kelli only seconds behind her. Julia sat in the chair seated next to my own, her fingers skimming the back of my hand. She playfully looked over at Kelli; who looked like she was going to explode.

I pulled my hand away, rubbing the burning skin she had just touched. "Julia, I'm not going to play games. Tell me why you came here."

"Because I missed you both, and I wanted to see my favorite ladies."

"Can you possibly explain how you faked your death?" I asked.

"I don't remember dying. I just remember passing out. I must've stopped breathing for a while. Ever heard the story of Lazarus?"

"No one wants to hear your bible stories, Julia. You know well enough that I myself am not religious," I snapped, not even realizing that my hatred was beginning to grow the more time she was around.

"There's the queen I remember! The snappy one, I missed your true colors," Julia taunted, snickering at her own remark.

"What true colors? The only reason I was like that was because I had to live with your sarcastic ass."

"But haven't you seen that side of Kelli? I don't get what you have against me."

"You don't know? Do you remember what you did to me?"

"I was just having fun with you."

"That was not fun! You abused me, Julia! I hope you didn't come to apologize because I will never be able to forgive you!"

"Well then, I guess I'll just have to try until you do."

Julia hopped out of her chair and walked away.

"Well, that was a crappy way of trying to earn my trust," I retorted, getting up to leave the room. Kelli came in front of me, her hand closing around my shoulder.

"Are you okay?" I nodded. "I was just making sure."

She stood onto her toes to peck my lips. I kissed her back when she kissed me again. "I'll manage."

"Just tell me when you're scared or anything. I'm here for you."
