Mariska's POV

I woke up with my arms wrapped around Kelli's leg. Kelli was asleep, her mouth was hanging open. I sat up, stretching out my arms. I slid off the bed, trying not to wake her up. If I woke her up, she'd never let me get out of bed. I crept out of my room and down the hallway to my study.

Kelli's POV

I woke up with a jolt, immediately searching for Mariska. I remember falling asleep with her clinging to my leg. God... She was so cute when she slept. So peaceful unlike when she had her nightmare. She was so scared, thrashing and screaming for help. I couldn't watch it, it was like watching someone fighting a fight they couldn't win.

I stood up, knowing where I could always finding Mariska; her study. It was like her little cave of books, work, and privacy. I made my way to her study. When I reached the room, she was doing some paperwork or something, queen stuff I guess.

"Mistress, you need to lie down," I said, making her jump. She looked up from her papers.

"I knew you'd be here soon," she smiled... She smiled. Is it okay to say I'm slightly scared.

"Come on-"

"Why do you care so much?" She asked, surprising me. I honestly could think of a reason. I couldn't tell her how I just had this desire to take care of her. Maybe it was because I thought of her as broken, and I wanted to fix her before she was unfixable.

"I..."

"And don't give me that "because I'm your servant" thing you do."

I mean, I could just tell her, but that would ruin the little amount of trust we've been building up. Kelli, breathe. "Okay..."

My brain wasn't working. The thought of what she'd do if I told her how I felt.

"Kelli!" She yelled, bringing me back from my little panic.

"I... Don't know! I... Just care about people!" I lied.

"Really? What if Chris was hurt, would you be running to him?" She asked, resting her head on her fist.

"Only if you're not hurt too-"

"Kelli!"

"I'm telling what I'd do! You'd be my first priority!"

"Why?"

"Because you're my Mistress and I care about you and your wellbeing and if you're okay because I've become very attached to you lately!" I yelled... Then I covered my mouth. Dammit! I didn't mean to tell her the truth. I looked at her, scared to see her cold stare.

"Oh... Um..." She said, blushing. "I can't say I haven't taking a liking to you..."

Neither of us knew what to say. We were both stunned at what we had just said. I was awkwardly standing at her desk, and she was sitting there, a blush still resting on her cheeks.

"Kelli, why don't you take me to my room," she said, changing the subject.

"Yes, Mistress," I said, helping her out of her chair. She stumbled into my arms, clearly still feverish... Maybe she wouldn't remember this conversation.

"Hold on, I'm getting a little light headed..."

She fell back into my arms again, this time unconscious. I thought about what to do, eventually deciding to pick her up bridal style, her head resting against my chest. I took her to her room. I put her down carefully, making sure to not hit her head.

Pulled her covers over her body and felt her head again. She still had a fever. I kissed her temple and left the room.

Sometimes I wonder if she feels the same way I do.
