Mariska's POV

It's times like when you come to your senses and realize you're dating your butler that make you think, wow, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm literally sitting at my desk, staring at a wall, trying to figure out what I'm doing with my life. I can't say I hate or like what I'm doing because I just don't know. It's not until I hear Kelli's footsteps getting louder that I reach for the nearest stack of papers and pretend to work.

She comes in with a letter in hand, she still looking at the red wax seal on the parchment when she hands it to me. "I don't know who it's from, there's only a seal"

I reach out and take the letter from her hands. I take a look at the seal, nearly dropping it once I see the lions on either side of the family crest. Even though the wax was red, I still knew the colors by heart. Red, for war and power, silver and gold, for wealth, and the two lions represented strength. My trembling hands slowly ripped the seal away from the paper. There was large cursive letters scattered across the page.

My Dearest Queenie,

It has come to my attention that my Kelli is now working for you. Do tell her I said hello. Anyway, it has been awhile since we were last together, and I do miss you dearly. I know you're probably scared, but do not fret, I won't hurt you... that much. It must seem strange that I was dead three weeks ago, and now I'm not. But I'll explain everything once I arrive. I know you're most likely going to reject my invitation to a new start, so I'm already on my way. I'll be here in two days. And we all know you can't kick me out... is that what your father would have wanted?

Sincerely,

Julia Alfred.

I ripped up the page, my hands slamming the paper remains onto the desk. I brought my hands to my hair, clenching the chunks tightly. Tears were blurring my vision as I held them back. Kelli came to my side; her gloved hands brought my fists away from my hair. She kissed the now sore spots and wrapped her arms around my shivering frame. "Who was the letter from?"

"... J-Julia..."

"What did she say?"

"She's coming over in two days... what am I going to do?"

"But, isn't she dead?"

"She was I don't know what happened."

"Mariska, I want you to listen very closely. I'm going to protect you, I am never leaving your side. She's not going to hurt you."
