it's good to finally be back home.
the retreat was a wonderful experience—except for that one day where you and your friends almost got into it—other than that it was a memorable and so far the best one to come outta senior year.
you came home sometime last night. sergio, who left his car at school, dropped you off. you didn't want to wake your parents up due to how late it was and you didn't want to ask cameron to come get you, not being dumb enough to put your life in the hands of that idiotic 17 year old.
and as much as you didn't want to, you woke up this morning to get ready for school.
the weekend is around the corner, so you didn't dress the best nor did you just put anything one. you skim through your clothes for a tracksuit set and uggs. you then lazy put your hair in two cornrows.
don't worry, you've scheduled a hair appointment with shawntae.
you're still deciding between knotless or boho braids, or stitch braids.
after you finish, you throw whatever into your book bag and run downstairs. and as you try rushing out the door your mother emerges from the living room to the hall.
"cameron what did i tell you about run— abena? oh when did you get back?" she holds noala in one arm and uses the other to hug you. you hug her back, then gentle squish the sleeping baby's cheek.
"okay i said my hellos and hugged you, i gtg before i'm late." again you try dashing out the door but she stops you. you whine, but quickly stop once she point to her car key hanging by the door.
your eyes lit up because finally, she's letting you drive.
although your two week suspension was already up, she still didn't permit you to use her car. why? because anytime she catches a glimpse of your piercing it makes her mad all over again and she added more days to your suspension.
you take the keys off the hook.
as you get to the car you unlock the doors, tossing your bag in the back then started the engine. taking a deep breath, you connect your phone to bluetooth hitting shuffle on your r&b playlist, 'waterfalls by tlc' begins to play...
when you get to school, you find a parking that's close and kinda far from the building. you get out, making sure it's turned off and locked.
