"Sanay naman na ako maiwanan," Meg said, and then chuckled but she sounded bitter.
The two saw a fruit shake stall nearby and decided to buy mango shake.
"Akala ko gutom ka?" Aliya asked.
"Di naman masyado. Okay na 'to. Ikaw ba?" Meg asked.
"Okay na rin 'to," the idol said since she was not really hungry and just wanted to spend time with her ex lover.
They decided to watch their friends, so they sat on the sand just enough so the big waves wouldn't reach them. Ayaw nilang mamiss ang mga semplang moments ng mga kaibigan.
Aliya laughed when Molly fell from her board, making Meg look at her quickly, then continued watching their friends.
Bawal mafall, the redhead thought.
Aliya took a sip from her drink then looked at the person beside her.
"Napopogian ka nanaman sa 'kin," Meg said, still watching their friends surf.
"Pogi ka naman talaga, Janna," Aliya teased.
"Don't. Don't call me that," Meg said, frowning.
They fell silent as the pro surfer, who had been flirting with Meg, walked towards them. She wore a flirtatious smile on her face.
"Hey, Janna. See you later. Room 203, right?" the tall girl with perfectly tanned skin said.
"See you," Meg said, smiling.
Lagi ba siyang ganito sa travel? Hook up with a stranger? Aliya thought. Naisip niya tama lang palang iniwan niya si Meg nung gabing yun.
When the surfer was already far enough, Aliya resumed their conversation.
"Siya lang pwedeng tumawag sayo ng Janna?"
"No. She doesn't know my real name, okay?" the redhead said.
"Siguro kaya di ka nagpakilalang Janna sa 'kin dati kasi kilala ko kapatid mo. Pero kung hindi, Janna rin pakilala mo," Aliya said, teasing, but she was also hurting.
"Ewan ko sa 'yo."
"Ano nga?"
"Hindi. Iba naman ung sa 'tin eh," the redhead said, glancing quickly at the idol.
"Paanong iba?" the idol asked.
"I had feelings for you, di ba?" the redhead said, now looking Aliya in her eyes.
Had. Past tense. Ouch, Aliya told herself.
"Tagal naman nila. Swimming lang ako," Meg said, and didn't wait for Aliya to respond as she ran towards the water.
Minutes had passed and Aliya was still watching them when she noticed that Megan was too far from the shore already. A big wave hit her, and Aliya couldn't see her anymore.
"Meg!" Aliya shouted.
Cali didn't know how to swim, so she panicked too.
