Five years had passed since Meg and Aliya's reunion on the shores of Boracay. Life had changed in ways they had never imagined. The sun was setting, casting a glow over their beachfront home, where laughter echoed through the open windows.
Meg sat on the porch, rocking gently in a chair with a book in her hand, glancing every now and then at the scene unfolding before her. Aliya was playing in the sand with their two-year-old son, Marcus. His giggles filled the air as Aliya helped him build a sandcastle, her eyes sparkling with the same joy and love that had brought them back together.
Meg and Aliya underwent IVF using both of their eggs and didn't concern themselves with who was Marcus's biological mom, because for them, they were all bound together by love, not by blood.
"Careful, little architect," Aliya teased, steadying Marcus's tiny hands as he carefully placed a shell on top of the castle.
Marcus's face lit up with pride as he looked up at his moms. "Look, Mommy! It's done!"
Meg smiled warmly, her heart swelling with happiness. "Great job, champ! It's perfect."
Just then, the sound of footsteps crunching on the sand announced the arrival of their friends. Cali and Molly walked toward them, their son, Yves, toddling between them.
"Hiiii!" Molly called out, waving. Yves, seeing Marcus, broke into a wide grin and ran ahead to join him in the sand.
Meg stood up, setting her book aside. "Perfect timing kayo ah! Ready na ung dinner."
Cali smiled, lifting Yves into her arms. "May dala kaming dessert. Ito ung favorite ni Marcus na chocolate cake," she said, winking at Aliya.
Aliya laughed, wiping sand from her hands. "Mukhang may sasakit nanaman ang ngipin mamaya."
Inside, the house was a cozy mix of both their lives. Photographs lined the walls, capturing moments of their journey together: the proposal, the wedding, and countless family adventures. Toys were scattered across the living room floor, evidence of the lively kid who filled their days with joy and chaos.
As they settled around the dinner table, the two families shared stories and laughter. Marcus and Yves, sitting side by side in their high chairs, were already the best of friends, their bond as strong as their parents'.
"May balita sa next book?" Cali asked, pouring herself a glass of wine.
Meg nodded, her eyes twinkling. "It's coming along. Syempre ngayong nandito na si Marcus, may new inspiration ako."
Aliya reached over to squeeze Meg's hand. "Gusto ata ng bagong inspiration pa. Baby girl naman."
Molly grinned. "Ay! Gusto ko yan! Susundan na rin namin si Yves pag ganon."
After dinner, as the children played in the living room, the adults moved to the porch, enjoying the cool evening breeze and the soothing sound of the waves.
"Grabe, five years na yun," Cali said, looking out at the ocean.
"Yeah," Molly agreed. "Dami nang nagbago, but in the best ways possible."
Meg leaned into Aliya, their fingers intertwined. "I wouldn't change a thing. This is everything I ever dreamed of and more."
Aliya kissed the top of Meg's head, her heart full. "Me too, love. Me too."
As the stars began to twinkle above, the two families sat together, basking in the warmth of their shared love and dreams. It was a chapter of their lives filled with joy, growth, and the unbreakable bonds of family, a testament to the beautiful journey they had all taken together.
Laughter and conversation flowed freely as they reminisced about old times and shared dreams for the future.
Just then, Shannon and Gael arrived, hand in hand. Their engagement rings glinted in the soft light as they joined the group.
"Ui, lovebirds!" Cali called out, waving them over. "Musta ang preparation sa kasal?"
Gael grinned, wrapping an arm around Shannon. "Medyo stressful pala 'to. Pero di ako nagrereklamo. We're thinking of a beach wedding. Maybe here? After ng wedding sa US syempre."
Aliya squealed. "Ui! Sige! Excited na 'ko!"
As the evening wore on, Jade and Sadie, who were late to arrive, had been whispering and giggling off to the side, suddenly stood up, capturing everyone's attention.
"Uh, guys? May announcement kami," Jade said, her voice full of excitement.
Sadie nodded, a playful smile on her lips. "Hmm, matagal na naming tinatago 'to pero siguro time na para malaman niyo."
The group leaned in, curious. "Ano yun?" Molly asked, eyes wide with anticipation.
Jade took Sadie's hand, their fingers interlocking. "We're dating!"
A chorus of delighted exclamations erupted from the group. "Finally!" Meg laughed. "Kala namin habang-buhay nalang kayong magbabardagulan!"
Gael grinned mischievously. "Took you long enough. Malapit na kaming magpustahan eh!"
Jade and Sadie laughed, their cheeks flushing. "Well, we didn't want to steal the spotlight," Sadie said, winking.
Shannon clapped her hands together. "This calls for a toast! To Jade and Sadie!"
As glasses clinked and cheers rang out, the atmosphere grew even more festive. The children, sensing the excitement, began running around, their laughter mingling with the adults'.
"Alright, alright, enough about us," Jade said, holding up her hands. "Let's talk about this anniversary concert of yours, LUNA. What's the plan?"
Aliya leaned back, a proud smile on her face. "It's going to be epic. We've been working on new songs, new choreography... everything. And we want all of you to be there for the first performance."
"Syempre naman," Cali said, her eyes sparkling. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."
As the night deepened, the conversations turned to dreams and plans, weaving a tapestry of love and friendship that bound them all together. They talked about family vacations, future projects, and the joy of watching their children grow up together.
Meg, feeling a sense of completeness she had never known before, leaned into Aliya. "Mahal na mahal kita. Baby number 2 after your concert?"
Aliya nodded, her heart full. "Mahal na mahal ko din po kayo ni Marcus."
Under the starlit sky, surrounded by friends and family, they knew they had found something truly special. It was a night of celebration, of new beginnings and old bonds, and most importantly, of love that had stood the test of time.
