When I finally made it to the end of the vent, I see that I'm high in the air in some sort of warehouse or storage. I took a deep breath before I jumped down. I landed on my feet, wincing in pain as it registered in my nervous system. I took a few shaky breaths, leaning against the wall as my body started to tremble as I trailed down until I was sitting on the ground.
I want to cry, to scream, to shout, but at the same time, I don't want to. I got another toy, that used to be human, killed. He was only hungry and scared. Maybe I should've just let myself fail. I'm going to die here anyways. Who knows? Maybe the train codes are fake, and by the time I'm in the train and realize this, she will attack and kill me, and eat my corpse? I might as well give up now.
But at the same time, I know I can't; I have my little brother to get home to. I don't want to leave him all alone. He needs me. Other than our parents, who else would take care of him when I'm gone? Who else would be there to cheer him up when he's at his lowest? Who else would there to help him with night terrors? What will he do when I can't go back home? Will he think that I abandoned him? That I don't care about him? No, I have to keep going, for his sake... and my own.
I heard something being knocked over and fear instantly filled my body. I looked around in front of me, looking for the source. That's when I saw a small figure in the shadows with tiny spots that glowed a Columbia Blue. I flinched back, sucking in a breath through my nostrils when I saw it lift its head in my direction, a small, glowing, white outline around what I think is the eyes.
I didn't dare move as it tilts its head, it quickly dashed in my direction, causing me to close my eyes and accept my fate. I awaited my death, but I didn't feel anything, only hearing a whiny squeak as I felt some weight on my lap. I looked down and saw what seems to be a small whale shark with a few dog features such as fur on the underbelly, paws, and flappy ears.
"Uh... hey, there." I hesitantly greeted, looking down at the small toy. It let out a bellow, nuzzling its head into my chest before flopping over on it's back. "Aww~ Aren't you a cute little thing~" I cooed, giving the little guy belly rubs. I noticed on one of its back paws was a piece of paper connected to a string. I picked up the paper and read its contents.
