Chapter 7: Daffodil

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!

Wedding? Whose wedding?! Yours and Erwin?! But wasn't Akira your boyfriend? What the hell is up with your life in this world? In your REAL world, you barely dated. You focused more on your career. You've only had 3 and a half partners so far (yes, a half, because the recent one was more of a situationship, really) but what the hell?! Why do you have 2 probable partners in this world? Are you in a poly after all? Which is your real partner? Akira? Erwin? Hange for all you know? Wait, no, they're probably around Levi's age right now. 

Okay, backtrack! 

With wide eyes, you quickly look at Akira. He was drying some mugs with a rag. He didn't seem bothered. You look at Erwin. He has his hand covering his mouth and lower nose, looking away from you, much like he did when you hugged him the first time you saw him. What the fuck is-

“Aw, look at Erwin blushing” you hear the dark haired woman cooed and your eyes dart to his ears; they were red and so were the parts of his face you can see. Holy shit is he really blushing? 

Are you engaged with him? Are you engaged to commander eyebrows?! You use your thumbs to feel for a ring on ANY of your fingers; there were none. So…huh?! 

You hear Erwin clear his throat, snapping you back from your thoughts. “Anyway,” he began, “how is Levi?” 
He was now looking at you, the red tint on his face fading. 

“oh, um” you drawled. You're still dwelling on your confusion. “Th-the doctor said Levi had acidity and indigestion problems because he was fed a lot all of a sudden, shocking his system. B-but the doctor gave him some medicine and he–he's resting now” you say sheepishly, annoyed at yourself for stuttering. 

“I hope he didn't catch a serious disease from living there” Erwin expressed, concern written on his face. 

“He didn't” you assure him. “But he does have a peptic ulcer and the doctor said he's malnourished” you add and he nods in understanding. You're glad he's concerned about Levi, like he wasn't gonna convince Levi to join the scouts and work him to the bones once he is the commander in the near future. 

But, wait, technically, Levi has you as a guardian now. So you will just deviate him to a path far from even thinking of joining the scouts. That was why you're here in the first place, to prevent Levi's incoming loss and suffering in the future, and joining the scouts is the guarantee of said apprehensions. You just hope you're still there when he's old enough. 

“He did seem like he needs fattening up” Hanz now spoke and you look at him “kid's only skin and bones.” 

“Well then, he's in the right place” the black haired man, who's been quiet until now, said. “This place has great food. You ever think of turning it into a REAL restaurant?” he adds, now pointing his spoon at you. 

“Oh, well,” you have no idea. You know squat about culinary arts. Sure you can cook but just the basics. You study micro bacteria and mix complex chemical substances for your work, but mixing various food ingredients to make fine dining for a restaurant? No. 
That's above your pay grade. “I don't really know how to cook food” you admit sheepishly. 

You hear Hanz snort and you glance at him “he's not talking about you miss throws-a-bunch-of-vegetables-together-in-a-pot-and-calls-it-a-stew” he snickered “he's talking about K” he finished, pointing to Akira behind him with his thumb. Oh, so even in this world you suck at cooking. 

But wait. You look at Akira now. Now that you notice, he's the one working behind the counter. Is he the manager here? Is that why he thought about adding your idea of dried fruit and floral tea to the menu? Is he the cook? You look down at the almost-finished plate of food in front of you. You haven't really been savoring it (you were too distracted by the initial shock of being engaged to Erwin) but now that you have, holy moly it does taste good.
