Asami made her way back to her father's estate, her heart heavy with grief and sadness. She opened the door and stepped inside, the familiar scent of her childhood home enveloping her. Her father, Hiroshi Sato, looked up from his work, a smile lighting up his face as he saw his daughter.
"Asami, my dear, welcome home," Hiroshi greeted her warmly, but his smile faltered as he noticed the red, puffy eyes and tear-streaked face of his daughter. Concern etched his features as he asked, "What's wrong, Asami? What happened?"
Asami took a deep breath, trying to steady her voice as she explained, "Korra and I... we broke up, Dad."
Hiroshi's eyebrows furrowed in concern as he stood up and walked over to his daughter, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Oh, Asami, I'm so sorry to hear that. Do you want to talk about it?"
Asami nodded, her emotions threatening to overwhelm her as she recounted the events that led to the end of her relationship with Korra. She spoke of the video that went viral, the toxicity that had seeped into their relationship, and the realization that they were not good for each other. Hiroshi listened attentively, his heart breaking for his daughter as she poured out her pain and sorrow.
"I just don't know what to do, Dad," Asami admitted, her voice trembling with emotion. "I thought Korra and I were meant to be together, but now... now it's all over."
Hiroshi pulled his daughter into a comforting embrace, holding her close as she cried. "I know it hurts now, Asami, but time will heal your wounds. You are strong, my dear, and you will get through this."
Asami clung to her father, finding solace in his words of comfort and support. In that moment, she knew that she was not alone, that her father would always be there for her, no matter what challenges life threw her way.
"Thank you, Dad," Asami whispered, her voice muffled against his chest. "I don't know what I would do without you."
Hiroshi held his daughter close, his heart aching for her pain but filled with pride for the strong, resilient woman she had become. "You will always have me, Asami. I love you, and I will always be here for you."
Asami nodded, a sense of peace washing over her as she held onto her father, grateful for his unwavering love and support in her time of need. In that moment, she knew that she would find the strength to move forward, to heal from the heartbreak of losing Korra, and to embrace the future with hope and resilience.
Asami pushed open the creaky door to her old room, nostalgia washing over her as she stepped inside. She made her way to her bed, now covered in a mess of clothes and books, and sat down heavily. She pulled out her phone and opened Instagram, her eyes scanning the familiar feed until she landed on Korra's profile. But instead of seeing her bright smile, a stark message greeted her: "User not found." Asami's heart sank, her eyes welling up with tears.
"No, no, no," she whispered to herself, shaking her head in denial. She had known this was a possibility, but a part of her had still held onto hope that Korra would come back to social media. Asami's gaze fell on the phone, and she felt a pang of sadness. They had been so toxic together, their relationship a toxic mix of love and anger. But even knowing that, it was hard to let go.
Asami buried her face in her pillow, the soft fabric offering little comfort as she whispered goodbye to Korra, as if she were still there beside her. The words felt like a goodbye to a part of herself, too - a part that had been hurt and damaged by their relationship.
"Goodbye," she whispered again, her voice barely audible. "I'm sorry it had to end like this."

It had been a few weeks since the break-up, and she thought she was doing better. But just as she was starting to feel a little more like herself, Opal walked into the room, her expression dark and angry. Asami's gaze snapped to Korra's best friend, her own annoyance growing.
"What do you want?" Asami asked, her tone firm.
Opal's eyes blazed with fury. "Change your tone," she snapped. "And what's going on with Korra? I heard you two broke up."
Asami snapped back. "Yes. Korra and I are done, okay?" her patience wearing thin. Opal's face twisted in disgust. "You're an idiot, Asami," she spat. "You were just as bad as Korra in those three years you were together."
Asami's eyes flashed with anger. "What are you talking about?" Opal sneered, her voice dripping with venom. "I'm talking about all the times you went on dates with other people behind Korra's back, blocking her from time to time while you did it. And don't even get me started on your little chats with Mako."
Asami's face fell, her eyes welling up with tears. "That was just a mistake," she whispered, her voice trembling. Opal shook her head, her expression unforgiving. "No, Asami, it was a pattern." Opal's eyes never left Asami's face. "I stopped liking you when you cheated on Korra in junior year," she said, her voice dripping with disdain.
Asami's eyes widened in shock. "That's not fair," she protested, but Opal cut her off.
"Look, it's not excusable what Korra did, but the problem is that Korra never gave up on you because she loves you. But you gave up on Korra without even trying to make it work." Asami felt a pang of guilt and regret.
Opal walked to the door, then turned back to face Asami. "Fix it," she said sternly. "I'm tired of seeing my best friend so upset." With that, she turned and left the room, leaving Asami alone once again to wrestle with her regrets and what-ifs.
