Korra expertly chopped the vegetables and scrambled the eggs, her mind a million miles away. She was lost in thought, reliving the events of the previous night. As she plated the breakfast, she couldn't help but notice that it was Asami's favorite dish - omelette with avocado and cherry tomatoes.
As she placed the plate on the counter, a tear streamed down her face. Kaito, who was sitting at the table, noticed and immediately got up to approach Korra.
"Korra, are you okay?" she asked, concern etched on her face.
Korra quickly wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, trying to play it cool. "I'm fine," she said, her voice shaking slightly.
Kaito's expression didn't waver. "Korra, don't lie to me," she said gently. "What's wrong?"
Korra hesitated for a moment before speaking. "I just...I realized that I was cooking Asami's favorite dish, and...and I didn't mean to," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kaito's eyes widened in understanding. "Oh, Korra," she said softly. "You're still hurting, aren't you?"
Korra nodded, feeling a lump form in her throat. "I just...I miss her," she said, the words escaping before she could stop them.
Kaito wrapped her arms around Korra, holding her close. "I'm here for you, Korra. We're all here for you."
Korra held onto Kaito for a moment, feeling a sense of comfort wash over her. Slowly, she pulled away, taking a deep breath. "Thanks, Kaito. I'm sorry about this. I didn't mean to fall apart."
Kaito smiled gently. "You're not falling apart, Korra. You're just human. And sometimes being human means being vulnerable and emotional."
Korra took a deep breath and tried to shake off the lingering emotions. She glanced at the clock on the wall and realized that she only had an hour to get ready for graduation practice. "Okay, I've got to get going," she said, wiping her face with a napkin.
Kaito raised an eyebrow. "You're not going to eat the rest of your breakfast?" she asked, concern etched on her face.
Korra shrugged. "I'll eat it later. I need to get to practice." Her mind starts to race with the tasks she needed to accomplish before leaving. Korra then turned to Kaito. "Hey, do you need a ride home?" she asked.
Kaito nodded. "Yeah, that would be great. I was going to take a taxi, but it's so much easier to just ride with you."
Korra smiled and quickly grabbed her car keys. "No problem, I'd be happy to give you a ride. Let's get going!"
Kaito stood up and followed Korra out of the kitchen. As they walked towards the front door, Korra couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards her friend. She was grateful for Kaito's support and understanding, and she knew that she couldn't have gotten through this tough time without her.
As they stepped out into the bright sunlight, Korra took a deep breath and felt a sense of calm wash over her. She was ready to tackle whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that she had Kaito by her side.
"Hey, thanks for everything," Korra said as they walked towards the car.
Kaito smiled and put her hand on Korra's shoulder. "Anytime, Korra. We're in this together."
Korra and Kaito got into the car, and Korra started the engine. As they drove away from the house, Korra turned up the music and they both sang along to the upbeat tune.
Kaito laughed and playfully poked Korra in the arm. "You're so cheesy!" she exclaimed.
Korra grinned. "Hey, someone's got to keep the mood light!"
