MADELINE's POV:
bellamy, clarke, finn, and i stood in a white and black tent with charlotte. we had no idea what to do now, and murphy was the angriest he had ever been.

"why, charlotte?" bellamy asked her, trying to understand how she could have possibly killed wells the way she did.

"i was just trying to slay my demons, like you told me!" she said, and i put my head in my hands.

"what the fuck is she talking about?" i snapped, unable to actually process charlotte's words.

bellamy put his hands up. "she misunderstood me." he bent down to meet the girl's eye level, and spoke to her softly. "charlotte, that is not what i meant."

i noticed with rage how good he was with kids.

"BELLAMY, BRING THE GIRL OUT NOW!" murphy thundered from outside the tent. i could faintly make out people's outlines through the semi-transparent material of the walls.

he turned towards finn and clarke. "if you guys have any bright ideas, speak up."

they didn't reply. "oh, so now you stay quiet?"

"those are your boys out there!" finn argued.

"this is not my fault! if i hadn't shown clarke the knife, and she had listened to me, those idiots would still be building that wall!"

i looked up, despite myself. "oh, so you took it away from me but showed clarke?"

bellamy sighed. "i didn't take anything away from you, maddie, you dropped it so i picked it up."

"don't call me that," i said. he scoffed.

clarke interrupted us. "now is not the time for this. murphy is out for blood. there's no telling what he might do next."

finn peered out from under the flap in the tent at murphy and the others. "

you want to build a society, kane, let's build a society. BRING HER OUT!"

"no! please, bellamy!" charlotte cried. tears welled in her eyes.

he spoke to her softly again, putting a hand on her shoulder. "it's going to be okay. just...stay with them." he pointed his index finger at the three of us and then walked out to face murphy.

the boys' conversation was still clearly audible from where we were. charlotte sat down in the corner, and clarke went to comfort her. finn turned to me. "are you okay?"

"never better," i responded quickly.

"that would sound convincing if you were a good liar. but you're not, and i know better. talk to me," he tried to reason.

i felt myself starting to lose it. i bit the inside of my mouth to restrain my thoughts from becoming words.

"last time we "talked" you forced me away from someone who i really wanted to be with. so no, i don't want to have a conversation with you again."
