A/N: my gifs aren't loading!! i'll update this chapter with one when they are:)

MADELINE'S POV:
our hands were bound in front of our bodies. we walked for miles in the forest, being led by our captors. finally, when i thought my feet would fall off, we were pushed inside of a building that had a rectangular entrance but no visible door. it's outside was overrun with moss and shrubs, and the interior wasn't any better. droplets of water fell from the ceiling as we were forced to our knees.

"we walked for about three miles after crossing that creek. another two or so before we got to that road," finn whispered to me.

"i don't think it matters, finn. they didn't blindfold us. which means they don't care what we saw." clarke answered him from the right of me.

i swallowed. "they're probably going to kill us."

a masked man forced me up from behind. we were on the move again. luckily, it was only to go through another doorway. the air smelled slightly better in this room.

there was more movement coming from behind us. i wanted nothing more than to look over my shoulder, but knew i would probably be struck again if i did.

anya brushed past. she barely looked at us as she unsheathed her sword. i shut my eyes as tightly as i could as she brought it down. the blade found the wound in my leg. it had been bandaged up, i assumed, by the grounders before we started walking but while i was still unconscious. now it was split open again, and bleeding once more. i bit down on my tongue as clarke gasped.

"no! stop! please don't hurt her," she pleaded.

anya said nothing.

"what do you want me to do!?" she asked frantically.

anya drifted towards clarke on the floor. she thrust her sword forwards again. finn moved to try and block clarke from being injured, but wasn't able to as i was still in between them.

but clarke wasn't injured. her restraints were cut. i had never seen our leader look as confused as she did in this moment.

clarke stood up. i watched with my eyes as she moved slowly towards a table with a young girl's body laid out on it.

we did this. our bomb had hit a little girl.

"help her." anya didn't speak nearly as aggressively to clarke as she had to me. "if she dies, they die." she pointed the flat of her sword at me and finn.

my wound was still pouring blood. i could only move my entire body forwards so that my hands reached it. i tried applying pressure, but the flow wasn't slowing down.

anya laughed as she watched. "that is what you get for speaking to me that way."

finn glared at me from out of the corner of his eye. "what is she talking about?"

one of the grounder gaurds with anya grunted as he spoke.

"finn, we're all about to die and that's really your main concern? what i said to a grounder hours ago?"

he relented but eyed my wound. i focused my attention back on clarke.

"her name is tris," anya said. i was reminded of a story i had read on the ark about a girl with a similar name and her boyfriend who was named after a number.

"i can't do this. i don't have any equipment," clarke stated.

"we'll provide you with what we can," anya replied.

"why do you think i can save her?" clarke questioned again. i was wondering the same thing.

"lincoln told her," finn concluded.
