Chapter One

Katie Hills sat in the circle on the ground with her two best friends; Hannah and Lindsay. She put a bowl of warm popcorn in the middle and threw her dark brown hair up into a ponytail.

"Girls, I have the best gossip you will ever hear!" Hannah yelled, anxious to get the gossip out.

"I bet mine's better," Katie answered, instead of "What?!", feeling a little sick.

"Yeah, I don't think so," Hannah said, popping a piece of popcorn in her mouth and placing her brown curls on her shoulder.

"Just tell us already!" Lindsay yelled, anxious.

"Okay, so, someone told me that Kellie Lansing had sex with that senior, Jake!" Hannah said all excitedly.

Wow, fascinating, Katie thought in her head.

"Oh my God! Really? She's a fricken freshman!" exclaimed Lindsay.

Katie just sat there quietly, waiting for the girls' excited-ness to stop so she could tell them her news. Lindsay and Hannah both noticed that Katie wasn't showing any emotion towards the new secret.

"What's wrong Katie? I thought you'd freak," Hannah said, lowering her voice.

"Wow, another person had sex. Everyone's having sex these days, it's not really 'the best gossip I ever heard'," Katie exclaimed in a moody way. Lindsay and Hannah both looked at each other.

"Then what's your big news?" Lindsay asked, eating another piece of popcorn.

"Well... Um..." Katie sputtered out.

"Come on! Just tell us!" Hannah yelled impatiently. Her and Lindsay both put a handful of popcorn in their mouths.

"I'm pregnant...." Katie said quietly, looking down. Hannah and Lindsay both spit out the popcorn.

"WHAT?!" they screamed simultaneously. Katie looked down at her feet. She remembered making a promise to her mom saying that she wouldn't be a teen mom. She would get married then have kids. Now, Katie felt like she failed her mom. She felt so embarrassed, especially because the father was some guy she barely knew.

"You're such an idiot, Katie!" Lindsay exclaimed.

"How could you?!" "Who's the father?! You don't even have a boyfriend!" Hannah yelled over Lindsay.

Katie just needed some time to think about things and here she was, sitting in a fricken circle, with her two best friends yelling at her as if they were her mother! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Tyler Greens and his two best friends, Mike and Liam, sat at the kitchen table, thinking of things to do on a Saturday night.. There were no parties or anything. Liam's phone buzzed in his pocket. He took it out and smiled.

"Who's that? Hannah?" Tyler asked, smirking. Hannah and Liam started going out about a month ago.

"Yeah," Liam answered, not looking up from his phone. "The girls are having this sleepover or something tonight." Suddenly, Tyler had an idea.

"We should go," Tyler suggested, smirking.

"Dude, the girls would freak!" Mike answered.

"So? It'll be fun!" Tyler insisted. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Katie sat quietly while her two friends ranted.

"Tell us who the father is!" Lindsay and Hannah both yelled at the same time.

"That guy Tyler from the party last week! You happy now?" Katie yelled back, getting angry. She put her head in her hands.

"I'm sorry, I'm just a little freaked out..." Hannah said quietly.

"Me too," Lindsay agreed.

"You're freaked out?! I'm the one that's pregnant here!" Katie yelled, looking up. A tear fell down her cheek. Hannah and Lindsay both leaned closer to Katie and hugged her.
