You waited outside for Mary to finish but it was taking a while. Occasionally you could hear some girl talking and counting down

"I don't even know what they're playing. I hope they don't take to long I want to talk to Mary. Should I just go in? no, no I have to let Mary focus"  you said patiently

As you sat and thought, two familiar faces appeared

"Y/N!!" Yumeko called out as she practically jumped onto you

"hey Y/n" Ryota said bluntly

"hey guys, what are you doing here?" you asked trying to push Yumeko aside

"I thought it would be a fun idea to gamble with someone on the student council! Are you waiting for your turn? I didn't know you were this bold, Y/n!"

"no, no. I'm waiting for my friend to finish" you told her "she should be done any minute now"

"why don't you wait inside then? yknow you can do that right" Ryota said opening the doors

"NO WAIT" you said as you tried reaching for the door but it was to late Mary already saw you with them

"What are you doing Y/n? Don't be so over dramatic" he said as he stepped inside

Mary looked like she wanted to smile but then she saw Yumeko clinging to your arm and looked upset instead

"I'll just explain the situation to her after" you thought as you gave her a thumbs up with a cheeky smile

As you watched the game progress you noticed the game was fairly easy; but very risky. If the player lands on death, they will lose the chips they bet on that number and their loses are multiplied by 30. But if it lands on life, the earnings are multiplied by 30.

"it all comes down to fait, huh" You thought as you intently watched Mary place her chips

as the dealer finished the count down and revealed the swords, Mary looked hopeful to see one of the swords landed on her number

"woohoo! this is great-" your thought got interrupted by the dealer

"22. The blade is faced down. Judgment, death. Mary bet 6 chips so she loses 30x that"

everyone was shocked by the result of the game

"will someone get this loser out of here. because, now I'm finished with her" the girl Mary played against said with a smirk

Mary looked emotionless as she got up. in a fit of rage she made a mess of the game as she screamed and cried and finally walked out of the room not batting an eye to any of you. As you walked behind her you tried talking to her and comforting her but she was focused on the floor

"Mary are you alright? I'm here for you, ok?" you told her as you walked with her

"leave me alone Y/n. I just need to be alone"

"I can help you pay off your debt! I'm not the best gambler but I can help" you said as you opened the bag you were holding and showed her the few bills you won

"I don't know how many times I have to tell you, I don't  want your help! I thought you might've liked me, But I'm a fool. You probably treat every girl like this" she yelled at you as she pushed you away

"I'm not like that Mary! I'm not a player." you told her as you reached for her hand "well can I at least give you a ride home?"

"sure" she said bluntly

As you drove her home it was silent. She lived in a small middle class neighborhood. You had forgotten Mary wasn't rich like everyone else at the school. You liked how she gave off a wealthy aura. It made her admirable

as the car stopped you got out and opened the door for Mary extending your hand

"milady" you said as you grabbed her hand

you walked her to her door and apologized for being a nuisance all the time

"you will pull through Mary. You will come back better than ever" you said as you waved goodbye walking down the steps in front of her house

on the drive home you thought about how you wanted to become the best gambler and how to achieve that goal. Arriving home you opened your laptop and did your research on gambling

"I have to do something"
