❝ 🐳🏐🥏🫐❞

"madi, hurry up!" i call out to her. today, we were all going to the beach with lorelai because she had promised madi, yesterday. i don't even remember how i was dragged into these plans.

she comes downstairs, jumping down from the last step. she had her beach bag in her hand and she was dressed in her swimming suit.

right on time, the doorbell rings. i open the door, revealing lorelai, dressed in her pink bathing suit, with a matching pink shawl cover up wrapped around her waist. her curls, sat perfectly on her shoulders as she holds a bag.

i realise i had been staring, so i quickly snap out of it, inviting her in.

then i realise that was stupid, since we were going out. not us going out. but like to the beach, as a group.

"so what beach are we going to?" i ask as i start up the engine.

"dover," she replies, from next to me. she sat in the passenger seat while connor, insisted, sitting in the back with madi.

i start driving and in no time we reached.

we all got out of the car walking towards the sand. lorelai lays down some towel on the sand, before sitting on one of them.

madi kneels in front of lorelai, while she applies some sunscreen for her.

"okay you can go play now, but stay close to the shore," she warns, smudging the last bit of sunscreen on madi's face. she nods running toward the water.

"you not going in?" i ask her as i take off my shirt.

"maybe later," she replies keeping her gaze down to the floor.

i look to connor, as we have the same idea. twin telepathy.

we grab either side of her arms, lifting her up while running toward the water. throw her in before jumping in ourselves.

she lifts her head from the water, wiping her face, laughing. she lets out an offended gasp, splashing water at us while we swim away.

then she teams up with madi who brought a water gun, pummeling us with water.

after an hour, we head back to shore drying off. lorelai sits on the towel, wrapped in another as she shivers.

my eyes teared away from hers, when connor pulls me away. we walk over to an area out of earshot from lorelai and madi.

"aren't you glad that lorelai is back in our life's again?" he asks. i tell him i was neutral with it.

"be so for real. i only stopped being friends with her because she distanced when you distanced. i liked being friends with rory, don't you?"

i did, but everything is different now. we're older, haven't talked in years, im not sure what i think of her.

"not really, i mean the only reason im talking to her now is because she was randomly thrown into our life's again, she's just madi's babysitter," i explain.

"just madi's babysitter? come on, we were literally best friends," he tries.

"in elementary school," i deadpan, walking back to the two.

lorelai had just packed up all the stuff, as we walk back to car.

in the car madi, fell asleep in the back, being exhausted from being out all day.

"did you finish the book, yet?"she asks.

"no, not everyone reads everyday," i snap, dryly.

she nods, facing out the window. i keep my eyes foward onto the road, gripping the steering wheel tightly.

i still didn't like her, just because i was nice to her doesn't mean that. she's still a innocent, annoying, nerdy bookworm she was back when we were friends, always thinking she was the smartest in the room. i couldn't stand it. and the fact she offered her help like i was some invalid.why couldn't just help me the way a normal person would.

i had yet to read the book she gave me but i doubt i would.

pheebs note- progress going backwards 🥲 it's alright cos they'll get past this🥰🤷‍♀️
