i lay on my bed as i glanced at the prom sign in the corner of my room. i was planning to ask lorelai as my date and tell her i didn't want to go just as friends. i realised over how long we've known each other that i've only ever liked her. maybe the only reason i ' hated' her was because i was too scared to admit it.

it didn't matter anyway. she's going to prom with danny. which is weird because i always thought he had something going with vienna in his class.

i felt bad for storming out when lorelai apologised but i was too embarrassed to hear that she said yes to another guy.

this just goes to show that she doesn't even like me that way if she thought we were going as friends and then said yes to danny.

now she was going to prom with him. when it should be me.

i remember one of the days, we were at the beach and it was just us.

"okay favourite...colour," she asks after thinking for a while.

"really? after all that you choose the most basic question," i deadpan.

she slaps my arm, scoldingly.

"i'd say....blue," i answer.

she boos me, calling me basic.

"okay what is yours ms original," i roll my eyes.

"pink duh," she says.

"basicccc," i drag my words to make her. she giggles, pulling her knees to her chest.

the wind blows against her hair, causing her face to be more clear. i never realised in that moment how pretty she was. no one really complimented her enough for it. i would every chance i could. but it would be weird since to her i was just a friend. right?

"are you good?" she turns her head to me. i felt my cheeks heat up at getting caught staring at her.

"yeah, i'm fine."

she nods, looking foward again. she really loved this beach. because of her, i did too. there was barely anyone here, so it was quiet.

i stood up, which caused her to furrow her brows. i held my hand out to her to help her up. as she latched her hand onto mine i shifted her slightly towards the water letting go. she gasps as the water splashes from beneath her.

"you b-" she squeals, scrambling up. i laugh hysterically as i run away from her.

she jumps onto my back, in attempt to tackle me down but i grab the bottom off her legs to keep her up. i run over to the water and as we got deep enough, dunk us both in.

she lifts her head form the water, laughing as she splashed water at me. i faced away to avoid water from entering my nose as i splashed her back.

our faces were so close. she looked at me in away i hadn't seen before and it made my heart flutter in my chest.

she snaps her eyes away, looking down at her fingers. right, logan...

my deep thoughts were interrupted when madison barged in. i sat up, looking at her confused.

"brady, what am i hearing about rory going to prom with some boy named danny and not you," she reprimands me.

"where did you even-"

"how could you let that happen you poopy. it's you and rory forever," she enunciates the 'forever'.

"it just happened okay, madi," i sigh, unwilling to explain to her.

"but she already broke up with logan so you had your chance but now this daniel boy is here you have to fight for her!"

"madi, it's not how this works okay. it's just best for me to move on," i tell her, laying back down.

she slams her door on her way out as i hear her yell out connor's name.

i shut my eyes, deciding to just take a nap or something to get my mind of it.
