Chapter 9 ~ Special Treatment

Turns out, neighbors can get alarmed by blood trails leaving an apartment all the way to the parking lot. A phone call was made to the police department the next morning. The officer answering the call definitely did not sound happy to be working on a Sunday morning.

"Good morning, Officer Lee speaking, how can I help you?"

"Um, some weird shit is going on in one of my neighbor's apartment I think?"

"What's  your name, Sir?"

"Name's Mifune."

"What's the issue?"

"There's like, blood and stuff."

"Blood? Where?"

"Like, everywhere, man. I was just going to go on a run, and the entire hallway has a blood trail. It starts from her apartment, and goes to the parking lot."

"Do you see a body?"

"Um, I don't know, not in the hallway."

"What is the address?"

"13 Cornelia Street."

"Stay on the line, sir. An officer has been dispatched. Is the door unlocked?"

"Hold on, yeah it is."

"Can you go in?"

"Look man, I hope the chick is fine but I really don't have time to be doing police work for yall... have a nice day."

"Tsunade-Sama, I sent Asuma and Guy to look into a potential assault, just so you know!" Rock Lee stopped by the inspector's office.

"What an unusual time for an assault, we rarely get cases on Sunday mornings. What was the address?"

"13 Cornelia Street."

"I could have sworn I heard this address before..." Tsunade sat up in her chair.

"Hmm... I think very recently, as well... Let me think, what are some recent documents I read?" Terror appeared on Tsunade's face, "Sakura's employment documents.."

"Pardon me, inspector?" Lee was alarmed by the shift in Tsunade's demeanor.

"Lee, I need a wellness check on Sakura Haruno right this instant!! And go get Naruto!"

"O-ok Tsunade-Sama! Naruto is currently examining another stolen car in Northern Konoha, should I tell him to drop it?"

"Fuck that car! Go check on Sakura!"

Within an hour, half of the police department was inside Sakura's apartment. Crime scene investigators (CSIs) were all over the place, documenting every blood droplet and broken glass.

Naruto stormed in, almost slipping on a puddle of blood near the entrance. He immediately ran to Asuma, who looked just as disturbed.

"What the hell happened here?"

"She is gone, Naruto. Her phone and wallet are both here."

Naruto took a deep breath to calm down.

"Asuma, the blood..."

"We don't think it's hers. CSIs did some quick tests - it belongs to a biological male. We have not yet found any female blood at the scene."

"I should have been here instead of chasing fucking car thieves..." Naruto's voice shook.

"This is not the time to sulk, Naruto. We need your help."

Naruto shook his head. "Yeah, yeah, I will go check out the camera footage soon. What is our status? Tell me everything."

"Well, some neighbors heard a noise coming from this apartment sometime last night. I think a homeless guy outside saw a pizza delivery guy come in at some point. This morning, we received a phone call about the blood trail. This is strange, considering the blood isn't hers."
