Chapter 16 ~ Normal People

Today was one of the most exciting Sundays in a long time. Sakura woke up at the crack of dawn, showered, and brushed her teeth. It was finally time for her to leave the mansion, even if it was only for a couple hours.

Sakura always enjoyed shopping, but this time it meant something more to her. It was a temporary escape, and illusion that life was still somewhat normal. An illusion that she was just a girl in her early twenties going out shopping on weekends.

Of course, she would be closely trailed by armed mobsters, but she could train her eyes to overlook that detail. She didn't quite know where they were going, just that Kabuto had arranged something for her. She wasn't given any logistics, so she woke up early just to be sure.

She put on some shorts and a comfortable shirt in order to get changed easily in the fitting rooms. She then paced back and forth until her impatience got the best of her. She reached for her walkie-talkie on her nightstand, and called Sui.

"God damn women... Do you know what time it is?" A raspy voice grumbled from the other side.

"Sorry Sui! I just wondering what time we are supposed to leave?"

"Leave where?" She heard a big yawn.

"Um, shopping."

"Girl it is 7 AM..."

"Kabuto didn't tell me the details! I don't know what's going on!"

"Can we talk about this at like 9 AM like normal people?"

"Normal people don't need a mobster's permission and secret planning to go buy some panties, Sui."

She felt a chuckle followed by a groan.

"Fine, geez. Stay put. Out."

He hung up on her and she lay back down on the bed. She grabbed a piece of paper from her desk and started making a shopping list. She wrote down some pop tarts, pajamas, swimsuit, gym clothes, nicer dresses, shoes, underwear, nail polish, skincare products, conditioner... what else was she missing?

She suddenly realized that she'd be paying for all this with Sasuke Uchiha's card - goosebumps appeared all over her body. Whatever, might as well make his pockets hurt.

Her brainstorming session was interrupted by a knock on her door. Luckily, it was Sui who walked in instead of Kabuto. He was dressed in more casual clothes, which was a rare sight.

"Okay, you ready?"

"We're leaving now?" Sakura's eyes brightened with excitement. Sui winked.

"Kabuto had it scheduled for later in the day and seemed reluctant to move it, but I convinced him to let us get breakfast somewhere.

"Don't you technically outrank him?"

"Yes, but you don't. I don't need to ask him for permission to buy panties and eat outside, but you do."

"Shame, would have loved to see you beg Kabuto to buy panties." Sakura grinned at him. "So, who's going?"

"Well, your body guard, for sure. But Sasuke asked for additional protection so we'll be taking Shisui."

"Shisui? No way! Why him? Isn't he like very high up in the ranks?"

"Our good friend Juugo was supposed to accompany us, but he is no longer available as I moved the trip to earlier in the morning. Shisui volunteered to come, said he can use some chill time."

"I see, it's just a bit surprising. Anyway, where are we going?"

They left the room and walked toward the main exit.
