Third Person POV
"We are supposed to go down?" Kia asked staring at him with furrowed eyebrows and eyes wide, "Why wasn't I informed before?"
David stared at her for a few seconds without any expression on his face. Kiara sighed loudly, "I am coming, I'm coming. What's expected of me downstairs? Who all have come? What should I call them? Am I looking good enough to be there? And What..." Her words came muffled from his hand after that, as he pressed his right palm on her lips, "Shhh, Call Down. Nothing is expected of you there. Call them aunt or uncle or whatever you wish to and you are looking really pretty. So, don't worry and take a deep breath." Saying this he removed his hand from her mouth, guiding her to take a few deep breaths. Walking downstairs with her right hand in his, Kiara could hear loud voices of many people talking from the living room. No doubt there were many people. She couldn't even remember the names of half of them, how was she going to meet them?
Just like you met your father's family
A voice at the back of her head said, nodding profusely at its words, she stepped inside the living room along with David.
"She's here." Kritton chuckled at something
She took a step back from David, staring at everyone in the living room... who were these rich people?
He just held her hand, and sat on the couch. She kept standing near him, her eyes moving across everyone in the room.
Her eyes turned back to David as she took a step towards him, "What should I do?" she whispered, her anxiety kicking in as she became the attention of everyone in the room
He held her hand and brought her more towards him. A soft voice reached their ears, before David could say anything, making both of them turn towards their maternal grandmother who was now walking towards them.
"Ey milaya."
(Hey sweetie.)"She's grandma." David told her
"You mean, mom's mom?" She asked in a low tone, only loud enough for him to hear
His eyebrows raised as he passed her a disbelief look, "okay okay.." she muttered moving away from him
She turned towards the direction from where her grandmother was approaching, smiling slightly she spoke awkwardly "Hi."
Before she could decipher her next move, her sight blurred as the smell of sweet perfume entered her nostrils. Her own hands slowly wrapped around her grandmom, as she was taken in a tight hug.
She didn't knew what had happened to her, after coming here. Even now, she felt the same. This was the first time she was hugging this woman and she didn't feel uncomfortable, how can this happen? Even with her paternal family, her paternal, grandparents, uncle, aunts. She didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable around them. Why? She had no idea. How could she be so comfortable in a room full of strangers? And even so, in a stranger's arms?
Before her mind's train could run miles, she felt warm palms on her cheeks. Staring at her grandmother, who was looking at her like she was her most priced possession, she didn't know how to react.
Elizabeth's eyes turned glossy as she stared at her granddaughter. Kiara's eyes widened as she saw her grand mom's eyes getting clouded with tears.
