--Jungkook--

I took a drag on my cigarette and said, "Remember those birds?"

She was stunned: "Bird?" Something clearly flashed in her eyes. So I knew that she also had an impression.

I nodded and said, "Yes, we saw those black, strange water birds on the boat that day. I have never seen them anywhere else. I can't find any species on the Internet."

The air in the room suddenly became quiet. She looked a little dazed, and her eyes were a little empty. This made me feel a little uncomfortable, so I took a few more puffs of the cigarette and laughed at myself.

She said, "Is it you?" her voice was weak.

I stared at her: "It's me."

Her expression became unbelievable, and she spoke like a machine gun: "How is it possible? How could you have changed so much? It's impossible for a person to be like this in such a short time! And you didn't graduate from a prestigious university and were about to have a good life, so why are you now..."

"Lisa!" I interrupted her and even smiled and said, "It's nothing. People change. There's nothing wrong with me being the way I am now."

She stared at me intently, then asked slowly, "Jungkook, what did you go through?"

I was silent for a moment, watching the cigarette in my hand go out. At this moment, I didn't want to hide myself from her. But I couldn't talk about myself either. I answered: "Life."

She didn't speak for a while.

I lit another cigarette and put my hand on her shoulder. She shook it off and turned away from me. She was angry and unhappy. But I couldn't see why.

Finally, she bit her lip and said, "Let's talk about the birds. I also feel that I have seen those birds somewhere. You said on the boat... I remember now. I saw them several times along the way. What happened to those birds?"

"Those birds are not normal," I said. "They shouldn't be in the city. I followed them all the way and found that they were well-trained and intelligent."

Tan Jiao said, "So what?"

I looked her in the eye and said, "Abnormal things are often related to abnormal things. I think they may be related to what happened on our boat."

She was stunned for a moment and said, "That thing? What is it?"

I didn't expect her to react like this. Is she really different from me? I licked my dry lips and said, "Do you remember what happened after the first day on the ship?"

There was a blank look in her eyes, and then shock, as if she had just realized this fact. I suddenly felt helpless. How confused was this girl? This matter has always been a hole in my heart, but she seemed to be unaware of it.

I said, "I don't remember anything that happened after the first day. My memory starts from when I got off the ship and returned home. Is it the same for you?"

She moved her lips and said, "Same... But I really didn't realize it before. I just remember that the trip was over and I got off the ship. Now that you've mentioned it, I realized that I can't remember anything about those few days. Not even a single detail. How could this be..."

Seeing that she was a little flustered, I handed her the water next to me. She took a sip absentmindedly, and finally pursed her lips and stopped talking.

Seeing that she had calmed down, I continued, "So over the past year, I have been trying to find out the truth. But there has been no progress."

Little did I know that my words would push her heart even further to the edge of the cliff.
