"What?" Bianca spat. Surprised and appalled. Me?

Freya gasped. "Cordon. No."

Bianca looked between her mother and Cordon.

"What is going on?" Bianca demanded.

"I will take you as I have planned to, as my mate."

Bianca's mouth dropped. "Eww."

His eyes flashed with anger but he ignored her disgust. "You were promised to me by the Council. I had been waiting for you to grow up. Become more mature and not such a spoilt little brat. But then-" he glared between her and Beau. "This little development happened."

Bianca shook her head. "You don't need to be mated to me. You're already ruling."

"The Council doesn't see my claim as legitimate, this is the only way."

"I'll relinquish my claim!" She cried out desperately.

Cordon shook his head, "You know that won't be good enough."

Bianca just shook her head again. Just the idea of being mates with Cordon repulsed her. "It's too late. We're already marked and mated."

"You will sever your bond to this man," Cordon's voice dripped with contempt as he gestured to Beau.

Bianca shook her head. "There's no way..."

Cordon turned to her mother, who had been standing in shocked silence. "I know you know how to break a bond. Vigo bore your mark before Carlo's death. Tell me how you did it."

Bianca frowned. She hadn't known that. She had always assumed Freya lost her mark when her father died. She didn't remember a time when she no longer saw it, but she didn't get a chance often as it was on his chest- the typical place for a magic based mark- and her father wasn't a hang around shirtless kind of vampire.

Freya shook her head, beads of sweat appeared across her forehead.

"Tell me. You are breaking your oath to me!" Cordon's face was twisted in rage.

Freya doubled over, dropping to her knees.

"Stop it!" Bianca yelled.

Beau was looking between Bianca and her mother. He bent down to help her, not understanding what was causing her to writhe in agony.

"Just tell him," Beau whispered. "It's okay. It can't be worse than this."

"He accepted my rejection." Freya cried out, tears streamed down her face. She cried for not holding on longer. "That was all. You have to reject them and they need to accept- the spell of the bond will break. It only works for spell based markings."

"What?" Bianca shook her head. "He can't have, why would he have gone to war then?"

"I don't know why he changed his mind..."

Bianca thought she might. She remembered how she felt when she finally understood her mother wasn't going to come home.

She hadn't cried. She had already learned that crying showed you were weak, and weakness was the worst thing in her world. So, she did the opposite, she became vicious. She could imagine that setting her father off. She recalled him trying to control her and being unable to.

She felt fresh grief for what her father did for her. He had tried to get her mother back and it had cost him everything.

Cordon had a look of triumph on his face. "So simple. Okay then, Bianca, reject him."

Bianca looked from her mother to Cordon. "What? No."

"I order you!" He roared.

Bianca's back straightened. "You can't order me. This is not within your power."
