A few hours later, Beau went back to the kitchen to make them something to eat. He had her promise she wasn't going to leave. He thought about the look she had given him- a bit of wonder, adoration and sadness. But she promised. He had been tempted to get her to come to the kitchen with him, but he thought that was a little too thirsty and untrusting.
He made them bacon and scrambled eggs with sliced avocado and grilled tomato. There had also been some nectarines and an orange that he cut up and popped some slices on each plate. He couldn't knock the stupid grin off his face.
He was close to finished cooking when Toby came out- obviously hearing his banging around.
"Dude. My man. You found her?" Toby shook his head in astonishment.
Beau couldn't help the laugh that came from him. "Yeah." Sort of, he thought. Actually, how had she found him? Now that he thought about it in the light of day, she had broken in and threatened to kill him. He shrugged internally at that- he'd work that out later. It just didn't worry him.
Toby sat on a stool by the bench. "You know when I got home- and then all night to be honest- when I heard all the racket you guys made I actually thought maybe you'd brought Jennifer home."
Beau blushed. "Uh... you heard?"
Toby gave him an exaggerated nod. "Uh yeah. The whole household and probably half the street heard. Congrats man. I mean, I'd always suspected, but you've obvs got some swagger."
Beau just shook his head at that, but internally he was beaming. He loved how much enjoyment she got from him. How much he could give her.
He plated up and then stacked a plate on his forearm and held the other in his hand, grabbing some cutlery with his free one. "Oh. I'll pay you back for the food."
Toby waved his hand. "No way."
Beau started heading toward his room, but turned back. "And Tobias." His friend looked at him. "I'm sorry I was such a dick to you. It was uncalled for and you were just looking out for me. I had a really great chat with Travis and..."
Toby waved him away, but Beau could see he was relieved they were okay.
He went back to his room, stopping outside his room to put the cutlery in the back pocket of his sweats so he could open the door.
She was sitting in his bed, cross legged, on her phone. She looked up to him, smiling briefly, raising her index finger to indicate she just needed a minute.
He placed his plate on the bedside table on his side of the bed and walked around to set her breakfast on her side. He noted that she hadn't drank her juice.
"Tell him I will take the assignment and use strat twenty-nine." She was quiet while the other person spoke. She shook her head. "Just-" Her voice took on a french pronunciation, "Obliger Raven à transférer à l'aveugle un acompte de trois cent mille euros." Silence from Bianca. "Non Rose."
There was a good 10 seconds of conversation from the person on the other end. Bianca responded back in her normal accent. "He will do it. And get him that dick idol. That'll preoccupy him. Let Bronson know that we need-" she hesitated and Beau saw she glanced at him, "un plan de sortie avec de la place pour un de plus."
She gave Beau an apologetic smile, rolling her eyes while the other person spoke. "I promise- later... Bronson can head home.... Not sure yet... ma chérie je te promets."
She ended the call. "Sorry about that."
"Everything okay?" He asked, sitting on her side of the bed. "That sounded, uh, complicated."
