Chapter 9

Moonset, Spring 1953, Dream, Ancient Rabbits Tribe

"Starry Maple? You dream of the gods and the spirits of fallen ancestors?" Gideon asked.

"Yes. You see those stars?" Starry Maple asked. "Those are the spirits of fallen ancestors that watch us from the night sky"

"Did the moon betray them?" Gideon asked.

"No. It's a term for the dawn of the darkness that lies ahead" Starry Maple said.

"But what does that mean?!" Gideon asked.

"It means you will fight against the darkness alongside a few friends" Starry Maple said. "I am going to send you a prophecy"

"No. No more prophecies" Gideon said. "I have already been confused enough. You all have moths in your brain"

"Night, rose and shade will come together to defeat the darkness that lasts forever" Starry Maple said.

"What is the night?! What is the rose?!" Gideon asked. "What is the shade?!"

"With time, you will know what the night, the rose, and the shade are" Starry Maple said.

"The night is what we have right now!" Gideon said. "The rose is a plant! Shade is what cools us down"

"You will understand in time" Leo said.

"It's time for you to say farewell" Purple Wolf said. "We shall see each other in the next dream, or the next battle"

All three of the gods and Starry Maple padded to Gideon. He stood back for a second.

"What do you plan on doing?" Gideon asked in fear.

"Silence, dear one. We are returning you back to your mossy nest" Breezeblaze said.

Gideon calmed down. He was glad this dream was not a nightmare. He let all three of the gods take him away from the dream.

"Farewell, Gideon" Leo said.

"Farewell, Gideon" Purple Wolf said.

"Farewell, Gideon" Breezeblaze said.

"Farewell, Gideon" Starry Maple said.

"Farewell, Leo, Purple Wolf, Breezeblaze, and Starry Maple" Gideon said.

All of them tapped his forehead with their muzzle and Gideon left the dream. He woke up on his mossy nest.

It was dawn. Gideon rubbed his eye. He was remembering the prophecy he received from Leo.

The dawn of the darkness is here.

Soon we will bear the dawn of war, battles and bloodshed.

Night, rose, and shade will come together to defeat the eternal darkness and return the light.

The moon is no longer your friend.

It has betrayed the night.

It has betrayed the dark.

It has betrayed the fallen warriors that watch over us.

It has betrayed all of Japan

What did that prophecy mean? How does a moon betray the night? How does the moon betray the dark?

How does the moon betray the stars? How does the moon betray Japan. Gideon wondered if Leo was crazy.

Gideon took a quick stretch and padded to the river to drink water. He later walked to a nearby lake and started to bathe himself.

Gideon was happy that he was by himself in the lake. Sasha and Mike didn't have to bother him.

Gideon wondered what May's personality would be like. He never seen her before. He wondered if she is just as bad as Sasha.

Gideon saw two rabbits walking towards the northern border. It must be time for the dawn patrol.

Gideon walked out of the lake and shook his fur dry. He groomed his fur to get rid of the bushiness that makes him look terrible.

Gideon looked at the dawn patrol and noticed it was those two rabbits. Sasha and May.

Speak of Leo. Gideon thought to himself. I was just thinking about Sasha and May.

Gideon noticed Skyler running his way and stopped so he doesn't run into her and decided to hear what she has to say.

"It's the Wise One! He's crazy!" Skyler said. "He wants to talk to you by the way"

Gideon nodded and raced back to the den. He noticed the Wise One. He was standing in a defensive position.

The Wise One's fur was bristling like the snow white color was escaping the old pelt.

"Wise One? What's wrong?" Gideon asked. "Why are you so frightened?"

"When I was dreaming, Leo said you have to receive a special power from the Kazilla" The Wise One said. "We have to leave now!"

"How do we get to the Kazilla?" Gideon asked.

"We have to have courage and cross through the perilous streets of Tokyo" The Wise One said.

Gideon's eyes widened. "Humans are everywhere" He said.

"I'm going to tell Queen Magnolia and then we have to go!" The Wise One said.
