Chapter 24

Sunrise, Spring 1953, Ancient Rabbits territory, Ancient Rabbits Tribe

"Sasha! May!" Gideon yelled out. "Why are you both hiding?"

"Oh thank the gods you finally came Gideon and the Wise One" Sasha said. "It's Vulture. He came back!"

"Vulture's back?! How could this happen?" Gideon asked. "I thought he was exiled as a rogue!"

"He wants to destroy the Ancient Rabbits for exiling him!" May yelled. "You both gotta do something!"

"What are we supposed to do?" Gideon asked.

"We have magic. We can defeat him with magic" The Wise One said.

"Vulture has magic too! What if he blocks your powers?" Sasha asked.

"We'll have a magic battle. I don't know if Vulture has used his magic since he was exiled" Gideon said.

"Let's go" The Wise One said as they set off into the heart of the Ancient Rabbits Tribe.

When they arrived, they saw Vulture. He was staring at them, his paw pinning the limp body of Queen Magnolia.

"Your majesty! Queen Magnolia is hurt!" Gideon yelled.

"Stay here. I'll heal Queen Magnolia" The Wise One said as he rushed over to Queen Magnolia's limp body.

Vulture leaped off the limp body of Queen Magnolia and blocked Vulture's path. He was snarling.

"Let her die. She can be a ghost in the Ghost Residence for all I care" Vulture snarled.

"Get out of the way, Vulture" The Wise One said as he pushed the exiled rogue aside.

"Hey Vulture! Over here!" Gideon yelled.

Vulture padded to Gideon, snarling at the Ancient Rabbits as he carefully pulled out his magic staff.

In a split second, Gideon shot him with a blast of energy from his magic staff. Too slow to dodge, Vulture was pushed back.

The energy was strong. Vulture regained his balance from the sudden blast and held his magic staff high, preparing to use it.

Gideon shot him with a small fireball and leaped at Vulture's blind side. The exiled rogue screeched as he was pushed down.

Vulture beat Gideon with his paws as he tried to reach for his magic staff, but Gideon was pinning both his paws.

"You're not going to get that staff any time soon" Gideon snarled.

Vulture used his back paws to kick Gideon off. Gideon flew and lightly hit a tree. He got back up and faced Vulture.

Vulture was finally holding his magic staff and was pointing it at Gideon. Gideon held his magic staff first and shot another fireball.

Vulture dodged the fireball and it set a tree on fire. Gideon tried spraying water to the burning tree, but Vulture deflected it and it hit Gideon.

Water blinded Gideon for an instant before he shook it off and distracted Vulture with ball lighting.

Vulture backed away from the dangerous ball of lighting as Gideon managed to put out the fire that burned the tree.

"Disappear!" Gideon commanded the ball of lightning. It suddenly disappeared and Vulture lunged at Gideon.

"You rat! I'm going to treat you like prey!" Vulture yelled as he pinned Gideon down.

Gideon smacked the exiled rogue away with his magic staff. He stood up and faced Vulture, putting away his magic staff for now.

"Enough is enough, Vulture. We don't need violence to solve all our problems" Gideon said.

Vulture looked at Gideon like he was being inspired not to use violence to solve all his problems.

The exiled rogue carefully placed down his magic staff in surrender. Gideon smiled gently as he saw Vulture surrender.

"I'll surrender. When you're dead!" Vulture yelled as he ignored his magic staff and leaped in the air.

The exiled rogue was heading right towards Gideon. Gideon picked up his magic staff quickly and shot a lightning bolt out of it.

Vulture got hit by the lightning and felt a surge of electricity hit him like a knife. He was getting shocked to death.

He twisted and turned as he suffered from the lighting bolt. Soon, the lightning got the best of him and he was lying there, lifeless.

Gideon stared down at the lifeless body of Vulture. Sasha and May looked up. Queen Magnolia rose to her paws as he padded to Gideon.

"Gideon, thank you for defeating Vulture" Queen Magnolia said. "No other Ancient Rabbit could be braver than you"

Queen Magnolia touched Gideon's forehead with her nose. Gideon felt a sense of pride wash over him.

He looked at the Wise One and padded towards him. The older Ancient Rabbit stood with pride.

"Thank you so much for always being there for me" Gideon said. "You're the best friend anybody could as for"

The Wise One smiled. "And so are you"

"Gideon! The Wise One!" The Ancient Rabbits cheered for them both. Gideon smiled with pride.

The Ancient Rabbits now know him for saving them and preventing them from destruction.

Gideon couldn't help but wonder about the prophecy the gods sent him. Was Vulture the dawn of darkness?

If not what was the dawn of darkness?
