Interrogations and breakdowns.

(after dinner when everyone is sitting in the burkes living room)

CRYSTAL S POV

I was now sitting, next to my brother, with my head resting on his right shoulder and was about to be interrogated by the oh so great and powerful peter burke.

Peter sat down across from the couch a cup of coffee in his hand and a serious look on his face. Mozzie carried me over a hot chocolate with a smile and sat on the other side of me After giving the suit a warning glare.

"Okay so crystal how come i have never heard about you before?" Peter asked rubbing his hands together with a curious glint in his eye. 

"I've learned a lot about your brother through my investigations and partnership and not once have i ever heard the mention of a sister."peter said leaning forward slightly.

I raised an eyebrow and my eyes flicked to neal for conformation. he nodded slightly signaling that it was okay. 

"Mozzie and neal sort of erased me." I said not really wanting to explain this topic to a fed. i mean i know its just peter but a fed is still a fed.

 "erased you?" Peter asked confused.

"we basically erased all known digital mentions of her. That way if i were to ever get caught nothing bad was gonna happen to crysie."neal explained for me knowing full well that mozzie has rubbed off on me a little over the years.

 "Okay i guess that makes sense." peter said and nodded after giving neal a look that said your explaining more when we're alone.

"How come you never visited Neal in prison? Because it looks like your the type of siblings who would do anything for each other." Peter said continuing his questions. 

i smiled grimly. "Neal didn't want me anywhere near that prison so he told moz to explain the situation to me and keep me safe." I explained.

"Wait a sec if he told moz to keep you safe how did you and moz get seperated? " Elizabeth asked chiming in. i giggled.

 "well mrs. Suit she is a Caffrey through and through!" Mozzie started but was cut off by peter. 

"she got mad at you and ditched you." Peter said knowingly. Mozzie nodded.

"lets just say when Neal found out it was not pretty." Mozzie said shaking his head as if someone spilled his favorite wine.

 "You lost my baby sister how else was i supposed to react." neal said trying to defend himself once again.

 "i didn't lose her she ran away!" Mozzie said setting up a defense of his own. 

"Guys does it really matter i mean i'm here now!" I said giving my brother my best let it go look. He sighed and nodded.

"Why come to Neal now why not right after he got out?" Peter asked after he took a sip of his coffee. 

"Kate" i said truthfully.

 "Kate? Oh cmon crys i know you didn't like Kate but-" Neal started but i quickly cut him off. 

"no Neal Kate warned me not to come. She said the fbi was tailing her trying to find the art and i should stay as far away from you as possible." I said trying to soothe him before he got too pissed off about kate.

"how did you know things had cooled down?" Peter asked skeptically. I smirked. 

"Alex told me." I said lying through my teeth. 

"alex told you?" Neal asked curiously. i nodded.

 "Yeah she said it in a really annoying code." I said pretending to complain to my brother

 "Oooh what code?" Mozzie asked his eyes Lighting up. 'Crys think 'i thought to myself.

"The yeller smashed our favorite old music box and my old toy submarine. And to top it all off someone not only stole your brothers kitkat bar and ate it. i mean it was really weird it honestly took me a good five minutes to figure out just what she was talking about." i said shrugging as convincingly as i could.

"that is one of the most obvious and randomly ridiculous codes i have ever heard." mozzie said taking a sip of my hot chocolate. 

"hey! "I said grabbing the cup from him. 

"my hot chocolate." I said now holding the cup close to me.

"Anymore questions suit?" Mozzie asked in a very lawyer like manner.

 "No i think thats it for now." Peter said crossing his arms.

 "go home get some sleep and i want both of you caffreys in the office tommorrow."

"what?!" I asked jumping up my eyes widening in shock.

"you little missie are going to help us catch a criminal." Peter said almost giddy.

 "Why do you need me? You already have my older sibling why do you need the younger one to be dragged into this?"i asked desperately.

" you'll see tommorrow" peter said annoyingly mysterious.

"now both of you go home. i think you have a lot of catching up to do" peter said basically shooing us from his house.

 "Mozzie make sure they don't kill each other would ya?" Peter called. 

"will do suit!" Mozzie called back before following us out of the house.

-At june's in neals apartment.-

"Moz i need to talk to my sister alone." Neal said as soon as we entered the room. 

"Yeah sure thing" mozzie said nodding grabbing a bottle of wine before walking out

"You lied crysie." Neal said right after he shut the door. i bit my bottom lip.

 "When did i lie big brother?" I asked cocking my head to the side lightly. 

"No crys, you know exactly when!" neal snapped.

" you can lie to peter, you can lie to moz, but you can't lie to me." Neal said angrily.

I sat on his bed and pulled my legs up against my chest. I sighed and looked away from my big brother as unshed tears began to gather in my eyes. A couple seconds later I felt the bed dip beside me and a pair of strong wrap around me.

 "Crys....what happened? its okay you can tell " Neal said reassuringly. 

"Your right i did lie but it was just because i couldn't say anything in front of peter. Please don't be mad at me." i begged my walls finally breaking down as i turned to hug my brother as tightly as i could and tears started to fall from my eyes.

"Hey shhh..... its okay i'm here .....i'm right here. I'm sorry i yelled. i've just been so worried about you. I was driving myself crazy wondering where you ran off to" Neal said stroking my hair calming me down like he used to when we were little. 

"crys what happened?" Neal asked once i had calmed down enough. 

"You've heard of the hidden gems right?" 

"Yeah they're rumored to be better or at least equal to the pink panthers. the only difference is the gender." Neal said still confused.

" well they're sort of after me and ruby." I said tugging on my hair slightly.

"Ruby.... Ruby as in....... "Neal continued in a shocked voice unable to continue.

 "yes Neal ......Ruby keller"
