Stepping out of the shower, I wrap a grey towel around my body, before walking onto the mat.

Glancing over at my phone on the bathroom counter, I saunter over, tapping slightly on the clouded screen.
9 PM.
Right on time.
Slightly in a hurry, I unlock the phone using Face ID before clicking on the most recent thread on Whatsapp.
Ivy alone me a text from today start.
"Hey, we still good fi ten o'clock?" I press down the voicenote button.
"Mek me know when yuh reach bout halfway"

Without a second thought, I close out the app and continue to get ready for the evening.
I'd squeezed in an appointment with Maureen over the weekend so my hair was now silk-press, I was planning on keeping it in for a few more days before I got braids.

My eyebrows screw themselves together, knitting into a bow of confusion.

I exit our chat and navigate over to Ivy's, double-checking if she revived my message.
