I'm a man of peace.
I value it more than most things.
Suh dis whole argument haffi dead, todeh.
The brewing tension between the women in my life felt like a ticking time bomb, and here I was stuck in the middle of it.
Trying my hardest to cultivate a solution that worked in the best interest of everyone involved.
How comes crawsis love find me suh?
Funny enough, my mother and Camille were a lot more similar than they believed.
The only difference was that my mother spoke her mind, rather than harboring her thoughts.
Brawling from morning...
It was something I admired about her, a trait even I've found myself mimicking over the years.
But just cause yuh think sumn, don't mean yuh fi seh it.
Especially when someone is waiting to be hurt on the other end of your words.
Weh Mommy seh did wrong.
Point, blank, period.
Wuss cause Camille nuh too into di contention, she neva defend herself.
So there was no room for accountability.
Dat stops right now.
"Yea bro, me deh wid me ooman, we a guh roun a me granny yaad" I call into the car speaker, adjusting the volume on the stereo.
Affi announce me company, cause dem man yah mouth nuh normal.
I place my left hand on Camille's thigh, maneuvering us through the streets with my right arm.
Bay red dut deh roun yasso enuh...
"Ahh, when yah reach back dis side?" Roshane asks, before pausing.
"Cam, yuh good doh?" he adds, pulling her into the conversation.
A small smile appears on her face, "Yea man me good? How Shauna and di baby dem?"
Camille was able to meet Rosh and his family on Sunday, they invited us over for Sunday dinner and we took them up on the invitation.
Shauna loved Camille, and they got along great, it seemed like they'd known each other for years.
"Dem good enuh, juss drop dem round a church" Rosh replies.
They converse for a little bit more, discussing a few mundane things before Camille gives the call back to me.
