Third Person
FlashbackBilly Tucker sat in his large meeting room with the rest of his team. Clara, his wife, Colton, Nadira, and Nadira's parents all sat around a large marble table. Billy Tucker's assistant handed him the paperwork he requested for the meeting. He took a look over and decided to begin. "I appreciate you all joining me this morning. I know with a gloomy day outside, we'd all rather be trapped in our offices." There were chuckles around the table until Billy continued with his introduction. "We are all here to discuss an agreement that I believe will serve both of our businesses well." Nadira looked around the table, nervously inspecting everyone there. She felt out of place and uncomfortable around them. This was the first time her parents had ever invited her to one of their important meetings, and it would probably be the last if it wasn't about her.
"Colton is our only son, so this means he will be the next to take over the company. It would have been his sister, however we do not feel that she would best fit our image."
"What image is that?" Nadira's mother, Kalani, asked.
"A powerful man running one of the largest businesses in the world," Billy stood up and walked over to one of the large windows, "with a beautiful young woman on his arm." He looked back at Nadira and gave a devilish smile. She had no other emotion besides shock and disbelief of the words she was hearing. She shook her head, unwillingly, not knowing what she was shaking her head for.
"Why wasn't I made aware of this plan before you decided to dish it out to everyone like we're at a family dinner?" Colton asked sarcastically. His mother shot him a rude glare, and Billy continued. "I believe that a marriage between our heirs would be a beautiful decision in the long run for our financials. I understand that my son has taken a liking to a friend of your daughter, and I would be glad to have her be the cover for this marriage."
"I want to marry that girl one day, dad. There's no way in hell I'm going to legally bound myself to someone else." Colton interjected.
"Don't interrupt me, boy. I have looked at many sides of this and I know how you feel about that girl."
"Her name is Fantasia." Nadira spoke under her breath.
"I'm sorry?" Billy asked. He heard exactly what she had said, but he did not appreciate the constant interruptions.
"She said nothing," Kalani responded and pinched her daughter, "please continue."
"Thank you. The two of you shall be legally bound together on paper, thus sharing your assets. And for my son, if you were to ever want to marry someone else, we can have something arranged for you."
"This is bullshit." Colton said quietly.
"The only thing that is "bullshit" in here is the disrespect you are showing me. I built this company up from the ground and I'm being gracious enough and letting you take it over when I am no longer able to. You will do exactly as I say and I don't want to hear another word out of you! Do you understand me, young man?" Colton looked up at his father with a blank share. Billy walked over to his seat standing over him. "I will not repeat myself."
