Ep. 3 - We visit the Garden Gnome Emporium

Percy was sent upstairs to the Oracle later that afternoon . Dylan slipped away and made sure that nobody saw her. She walked back to the Hermes cabin and plopped down on her bed. She fiddled with her fingers before the mattress sank below next to her. She instinctively reached out to grab ahold or push away the thing that was making her fall. However, Luke slipped his fingers through Dylan's and held her tight.

"Whoaho. You good? Cause you don't look so good?" Luke asked, as Dylan sat herself upright and stared at the wooden cabin walls.

"You can't tell anyone. Promise?" Dylan whispered, pushing a strand of hair out of her face and pulling it behind her ear. Luke held his pinky out, and Dylan tightened hers around his. Dylan cautiously looked around and then leaned in to tell Luke everything.

And she she told him everything. Dylan wanted to go on a quest for such a long time, the same as Annabeth. The girls always talked about going on a quest whenever possible but over time their hopes degraded.

Luke nodded to everything and listened to Dylan. When Dylan finished, her leg was bouncing up and down nervously. Luke gently put his hand on her knee and stopped the bouncing. Dylan let a long sigh out and stared at Luke. "I just want to go on a quest. And you know that. But what's the chance that Percy's going to choose me? I mean he--"

"Dy? What about the monsters?" Luke asked, worried about Dylan.

"Are you saying that I'm not strong enough to fight my own battles?" Dylan raised an eyebrow. Luke held his hand out in surrender.

"I didn't mean it like that. But just think about it. Percy's the son of Poseidon and he'll draw the monsters faster," Luke said, before dropping his head. In truth, he didn't want Dylan to go because he just wanted to keep her safe. "And you still don't know,"

Dylan was about to fight back, when the wood creaked under Chiron's hooves. He stood at the door, hands crossed. All the campers in the Hermes cabin stared at him. Luke looked at Chiron and scooted two inches away from Dylan.

"Hello, children. I must say under other circumstances I would be pleased to come here, but I'm not," the campers went silent and waited for Chiron to talk. He looked around and then turned to Dylan and Luke. "Luke. Dylan. Chris. With me. Now,"

Slowly Luke, Dylan, and Chris stood up and silently walked over to Chiron. He walked the three campers out and down the path. He stopped at the other cabins and gathered other campers. Less than thirty minutes later all the campers were assembled in a circle. Dylan had the pleasure of standing next to Luke and Clarisse. Annabeth was standing a couple of campers away from Clarisse. Percy was standing next to Chiron and looked and around at everyone.

Dylan begged the gods that Percy had not told Chiron about sharing dreams. Maybe if he did Dylan wouldn't be in the circle. She nervously shifted on her feet before Luke nudged her in the shoulder telling her it was okay. She nodded, with a weak smile. Her mind was running a million miles an hour, the ADHD kicking in. Shaking the stress off, she clasped her hands behind her back trying to look professional, like the other campers.

Percy stared at Dylan without her knowledge. Something inside of him was pulling him to choose Dylan. She seemed like the right choice, and they shared dreams. He felt like they were connected and they were, but if he chose her to go on the quest what would happen if they went together? What if their connection made the world a worse place? Percy was thinking about every possible outcome which campers he could or could not take. He was definitely taking Grover, and no one would or could change his mind. He thought about taking Luke but he knew he could trust Grover more than he could trust Luke.
