Bucky sat on the couch staring at the clock on the wall across from him. It was only fifteen minutes after six, but something didn't feel right. In all the time he'd known you, there had never been a time when you were late. It was actually one of the things he admired about you. The feeling kept gnawing at his gut, but he told himself that he was overreacting.

He waited fifteen more minutes before pushing himself off the couch and walking to your room. He knocked and waited a few minutes before trying again. After several attempts, Bucky ran a hand through his hair and paced in front of your door. Something was definitely off.

You would have told him if you changed your mind. The two of you weren't on great terms, but you wouldn't bail on him without telling him. He stopped in front of your door and listened closely for any sound of movement, but there was nothing.

"FRIDAY, can you ask Pepper and Tony to come to Y/n's room? Something is wrong." Bucky said quickly.

"Right away, Mr. Barnes."

Tony and Pepper were racing down the hall to your room within minutes of FRIDAY relaying Bucky's message. Before they could even reach your door, Tony called out to Bucky.

"What's wrong?" He asked frantically.

"Y/n was supposed to meet me downstairs forty-five minutes ago so we could go to dinner, but she never showed up. I've tried knocking and listening for movement, but nothing."

Tony paused and looked at your door then back to Bucky.

"Maybe she's ghosting you?"

"She wouldn't do that." Bucky frowned. "You know her as well as I do. If she changed her mind she would have told me."

"He's right, Tony." Pepper said as she pushed between the men and knocked on your door. "Y/n, open up sweetie."

The three of them waited, but once again there was nothing.

"Something is wrong, Tony." Bucky urged.

This time Tony stepped up to the door and pounded his fist against it.

"Y/n, open the door." His voice was firm, but laced with anxiety. "If you don't open up, I'm going to have FRIDAY let us in."

Tony ran his hand down his face, but only gave a few seconds before asking FRIDAY to unlock your door. When he opened it and stepped inside your room, he was greeted by a dark room. He flipped on the light switch and swept his gaze over the area. Pepper and Bucky followed behind him, assessing the contents of your room.

"Her purse is still here." Pepper said.

She walked to the desk in the corner and ran her fingers over the leather before opening it.

"Keys. Wallet. Even her phone. Bucky is right, Tony. Something is wrong."

Tony's face transformed from one of anxiety to fear. He'd just gotten his daughter back and his mind was creating too many scenarios that ended with her never coming home.

"FRIDAY, is Y/n in the compound?" Tony asked.

"Ms. Stark was last seen on the security cameras two hours ago. She was taking the path through the woods that leads to the lake."

Without waiting for Tony or Pepper, Bucky took off. He navigated the compound as quickly as he could until he reached the bottom floor. As he rounded the final corner to the rear entrance, he ran into Steve, knocking them both to the floor. Natasha chuckled from above them and Steve groaned in pain.
