Danny was invited to a party and I invited myself to it. It was a send-off for one of Danny's co-workers who was returning to England. Compared to an actual masquerade, it was just-cover-a-part-of-your-face-so-you-can-enter. And half of the people there decided to cover their eyes with sunglasses.

When I realized I was third wheeling Danny, who was a prince with a pirate patch, and a girl we met there, who was coincidentally a princess under a pink mask, I needed to displace myself somewhere else. I went to the rooftop even though it had a sign saying it was off-limits. Talk about living on the edge.

No wonder why it was forbidden—it was a Tumblr garden under the stars, and thrashing it would be a shame. I sat on the swing and the empty seat beside me made me realize I was finally ready again—ready to spend beautiful nights like that with someone I will truly care about.

My bladder snapped me out of being sentimental and ordered me to pee. I did not want to leave the paradise so I decided to let it out on the grass. "Hey, pee's probably fertilizer. I will pour water after," I assured the fully bloomed roses. They played my jam and I could not help but simultaneously dance, hoping I entertained the other living creatures in the garden.

While I was pulling my pants up, I heard someone clearing her throat. She was sitting on the water tank. I squinted and found an angel under a white mask. I swear, she was glowing—she really must have come from heaven.

"I will not post on Youtube you dance-peeing if you come up here," she blackmailed, laughing. Apparently, she shot the action with her phone! I blushed of embarrassment. After splashing some water to my urine pod, I gave in to her request. I could not comprehend why I was drawn to her.

"I hope you are not a serial killer who finds pleasure in dumping off innocent girls in Batman costume into a water tank," I said.

"Nice meeting you too," she said.

"Hi, I am—," I said before she shushed me.

"Don't. Let's keep it a mystery. I have in my bucket list to trade secrets with a stranger,'" she joked.

"Why are you up here anyway? Please do not tell me you wanted to drown yourself in this water tank but did it metaphorically with alcohol." I bantered, hoping to make her laugh.

I could tell she was drunk asf and just wanted to talk so I let her. "Well since you asked and yes I'm drowning my miseries with alcohol—my ex girl friend and I called off our engagement three days ago because we finally found the courage to say we are not compatible. She's also here at the party. It is just too awkward to see each other now so I went up here."

"Oh. Should I be sorry to hear that?" I asked, sincerely concerned.

"No. I know we are better off apart. It would be difficult staying in a stagnant relationship, right?" she responded. At her most vulnerable phase, she was still badass.

"Well congratulations to us for coming out earlier of relationships that would eventually be doomed," I said raising a beer can I got on her pack.

"Cheers to us!" she exclaimed.

We traded our deepest secrets but agreed not to spill information in our bio. I told her that my ex girl friend broke up with me a month earlier and what I realized when I was on the swing. We talked about anything under the moon as if we had known each other for a while. It was just easy with her, it was easy being with her.

"This may sound crazy but I like you already," I said with alcohol-induced courage. It just felt right. "I know you can also feel the connection here. I also know you are not yet ready. But we should date, someday."

Before she got the chance to respond, her phone rang.
