Leah POV:
"Leah!" I squeeze my eyes shut when I hear my brother Jace scream my name as I lean my head against the wall and keep my body pressed into the corner. "Open the fucking door. Leah, open this fucking door!" I flinch slightly when I hear him kick the door. "I know he's been here." He says, making me shake my head. "He's been here and he's...." Jace quickly stops. "Leah?" I hear him say in confusion as he bangs his fist against the door. The banging on the door gets louder and louder until the lock to my apartment eventually breaks.

From the corner of my eye, I see my brother walk in but before he makes his way towards me, he stops and looks around at my apartment that's now trashed. All the photo frames and decoration pieces are broken, my tv is smashed and my sofas are turned over.

"Leah." Jace lowers down infront of me. Jace is my brother who is 5 years older than me. He's not my biological brother but he treats me like i'm his own flesh and blood.

We met seven years ago when I was twelve years old. My mom left me for two weeks in our small apartment. She just packed her bags, took all our money that we had left for food and rent to spend on drugs and left me all alone for two whole weeks.

I was alone all that time until Jace showed up. Although Jace was only 17 at the time, he was involved with gangs. He had a few people to meet and was going to meet members of his gang in my apartment which he thought was empty. When he showed up at the apartment with a bag full of drugs and weapons, he found me on the couch.

Jace took me in the very same day. He did his drug deal infront of me before he drove me to his apartment and looked after me. I'm 19 now and I look up to him as my older brother. I couldn't have asked for anyone else in my life to look after me. He's there for me through everything just like a brother or father would be there for their daughter or sister. I moved out a few weeks ago from his house and brought my own apartment.

"She hurt?" I feel my heart drop a little at the sound of my boyfriends voice. Marshall and I haven't been in a relationship for too long its only been 4 or 5 weeks, but before we started to date, we were close friends.

I stay quiet and numb as Marshall slowly wraps his arms around me and pulls me up. My head falls against his chest as he carrys me towards the sofa that Jace placed the right way around. I feel Marshall slowly place me down before he lowers down across me.

"Baby?" Marshall calls me. "Baby can you hear me? Did he hurt you? Did he lay his hands on you? Did he touch you in anyway?" He asks. I try to speak but for some reason my words don't come out so I just sit there and stare at him. "Leah?" Marshall whispers.

"I'm calling Kacey." I hear Jace whisper as he walks towards the landline phone.

"Leah, speak to me. Just say something. Did he hurt you in any kind of way?" Marshall squeezes my hand. I swallow hard and slowly look up at him. I scan his eyes and open my mouth to speak but when no words come out, I nod at him instead.

I feel Marshall let go off my hand slowly. He looks away from me and at Jace who's watching me with the phone pressed against his left ear. Marshall gets up and walks towards my bedroom, making Jace hang up the phone before he walks past me and follows Marshall into my room.

I can't exactly make out what their saying clearly since i'm still in shock but I can hear the things in my room being smashed as Marshall and Jace shout at eachother. I hear the door open about fifteen minutes later before my brother walks out on his own.

"Leah." Jace clears his throat before he appears infront of me. He slowly takes a seat next to me and leans foward. I place my chin ontop of my knees as I watch him clench and on clench his jaw. "I'm trying my best to be calm here." Jace says as he runs his hand through his brown hair. "I'm trying not to....Not to snap." He adds. I stay quiet as he runs his down his pale skin and over his tattooed arms. "You're in shock. I can tell but you know for a fact that I can help. Me and boys can help." He finally turns towards me. His dark blue eyes scan mine for a few seconds before he looks away and down at the ring around his finger.

By boys my brother means grown men that are part of his gang. It's no secret that Jace is a gangster. A drug dealer. A murderer. It's no secret at all. My brother has links to people that belong in the Mafia and run the mafia and he has links to notorious gangsters from other city's and countries. He's a well known man who chooses to live a humble life here in Detroit with his wife and his kids. Jace can get out of Detroit and live the life that anyone wishes to live but instead he chose to stay here in Detroit with his family and people from his gang who he also calls family.

"Travie..." Jace says his names like it's acid in his mouth. "You said that he was gone. You told me-" Jace starts but I cut him off.

"I lied to you." I say quickly, making him freeze in his spot. He stays still as he listen to me speak. "I know you hate Travis so I lied to you and told you and told you that he had left." I add.

"No." Jace shakes his head. "I would have known if he was in Detroit. I would have known his every move-" Jace says, making me cut in once again.

"I kept him safe." I say, making my brother inhale a sharp breath. "I told him where he would be safe and where he wouldn't be safe. I told him where you'd look for him and where you wouldn't be able to look for him." I add as my eyes fill up with tears.

"You protected that asshole." Jace shakes his head. "And in the end he hurt you....Again." Jace says, making me nod.

"Yes." I whisper.

"What the fuck were you thinking." Jace says in anger.

"Jace I know you don't like him-" I start and get cut off.

"Don't like him?" He scoffs.

"Travie was angry when I broke up with him." I say as tears starts to fall down my cheek slowly. "H-he said that I was nothing. That I was useless. He said that he had another girl California and a nice family and that I didn't matter to him. He left me and said that he was going to California." I shrug. "I actually thought he left but then he started....To visit me every other day when he found out that Marshall and I started to date-" I stop when my voice gives out before I burst out in tears.

"Damn it, Leah!" Jace growls as he bangs his fist against his knees and stands up. "You told me he left!" He shouts.

"I had to lie otherwise you would have..." I slowly trail off.

"Otherwise I would have fucking killed him with my bare hands!" He shouts. "That mother fucker was here....He was here all this time!" He throws his hands up in the air. "What time did he come today?" He asks.

"I-I-I don't kn-" I stutter and get cut off.

"What time Leah? What time did he come here?" He asks.

"Around four in the morning." I state.

"Four in the morning....He showed up early in the morning when he knew Marshall or I would be at home." Jace shakes his head as he paces infront of me. "How long did he stay?" He asks without looking at me.

"I....He left a few minutes before you and Marshall showed up." I say.

"A few minutes?" Jace repeats.

"Like twenty or twenty five minutes before you two showed up." I nod.

"So he probably hasn't gotten far. It's Saturday and sunny out. The streets are busy and there's a lot of traffic." I listen to him speak to himself quietly. "How did he hurt you? Did he threaten you? Did he hit you? How did he hurt you?" He asks. I look down at the marks on my hands and scratches on my arms. "Leah?" Jace lowers down infront of me.

"He..." I burst out crying again, making Jace shake his head before he envelopes me in a big hug. "He tried to rape me, Jace." I whisper as I cry on his shoulder, making his whole body go stiff as he holds me.

I let go off Jace and look behind me when I hear glass smash against the floor. Marshall ignores the varse that just fell out of his hands and keeps his gaze fixed on me before he walks past me without saying a single word. I watch him as he walks towards the front door and pulls it open before he walks out.

"Ja-" I start and get cut off by my brother when he stands up. I watch him walk towards the door as he reaches for the gun in his back pocket before he walks out and slams the door shut behind him.
