"Alright, kid, whenever you're ready."

"See you on the other side, Stark."

You soared through the air in a borrowed Iron Man suit, scanning the buildings where the people were now at a standstill. You smiled to yourself when you found out where they were stashing the weapons and you, one by one, got the innocents away from the building before blowing it to kingdom come.

"Whoo!" You shouted in victory with a huge grin on your face, doing some twirls in the air, and enjoying the freedom.

It didn't take much convincing for you to go on this little outing with the billionaire because once he said people were in danger, it was kind of a no brainer, and he was excited to see you out on the field even if he missed the main part of your powers, being currently suspended in the air at a complete stop.

Adrenaline was pumping in your veins and you weren't going to hold back. The suit you were in didn't have FRIDAY because she'd be a frozen counterpart, but it worked enough to get you wherever you wanted to go.

"Tony!" You called as soon as you put the world back in its place, "Send me the next target."

"Slow down, slow down," He pleaded, just coming to terms with the fact that this little mission was over in a literal blink of an eye for him, "Next one is...a small village, about three hundred miles from here, but I'm coming with you."

Incoming call from a miss Maximoff...

"I forgot we have a snitch." Tony smirked, answering the call for both of you from his suit.

"Y/n, what're you doing?" She asked, her voice full of concern.

"Sorry, Max, can't hear you, I'm on the other side of the world!" You cheered with a laugh and she rolled her eyes with a smile, making you happy this wasn't just a regular audio call because now you could see her face.

"Could've taken me with you, you know."

"Yeah?" You asked her with a small smile, "You would've come?"

"Better than having to clean up the coffee Bruce was in the middle of pouring when you froze everything, but it was funny to see Clint get beer all over himself when he went to take a drink."

You laughed and she smiled, watching you, but then Tony cleared his throat, reminding the two of you he was still on the line.

"I gotta go, but the world might stop for a bit soon, sorry in advance." You winced with a smile and she nodded with a grin.

"Okay, just be safe."

"Don't worry, I've got her back." Tony piped in and she cocked an eyebrow.

"That's what I'm worried about, Stark."

You chuckled and she smiled to you once more before hanging up, letting you get back to it.

About halfway to the next village, he spoke up again.

"Pepper calls me like that too sometimes."

"What?" You scrunched your eyebrows, unsure you heard him right, "Calls you like what?"

"All worried." He snickered and you rolled your eyes.

"Yeah, well, Wanda's my friend."

He didn't respond and at first, you thought he'd drop it, but then he started humming a song.

"I'll stop the world and melt with you..."

"Stark." You warned.

"You've seen the difference and it's getting better all the time..."

"Is that Bowling for Soup?"

"There's nothing you and I won't do..."

"Dude, stop!"

"I'll stop the world and melt with you!" He shouted, making you laugh with him, and not a minute later, you both got to the village, going into kick ass mode.

"Take the east," You told him, wanting someone to be there in case you missed something, "Charge your blasts if you see anyone in case I miss them."

"Got it."

You went to freeze time, but it nothing happened, so you mumbled the word that never failed you before...but apparently, there's a first time for everything.

"Uh...Y/n? Everything okay?"

"It's not working," You came to stand on top of one of the buildings' roof and you both tried to stay hidden, but that would only last so long with what you were wearing, "I don't know what's happening, but it's-"

You cut yourself off when you couldn't see anything, a panic rising in your chest as the world around you went pitch black.

"Kid? You there?"

"Tony?" You called out, your breathing starting to pick up, and you swallowed thickly as your eyes darted around in the dark, "Tony, get me out – get me out of the suit."

A second later and you were stumbling out of the suit onto the roof, falling forwards on your hands and knees. But the floor was gone, the sky a complete nothing, and you had no idea if you were even still on a roof.

"Tony!" You shouted, but it echoed in the air this time, and you didn't get a response.

You tried to get your bearings, but the second you went to stand up, you heard a noise. It was a chittering that got louder as if it was coming closer, but you couldn't see anything and you were spinning around in your spot, trying desperately to get some sign of what it could be.

It got so loud, you had to cover your ears with your hands, and it brought you to your knees again as you squeezed your eyes shut, silently begging it to stop. You screamed out in pain as your ears began to bleed and then the noise suddenly ceased.

You were panting heavily, laying on your side, curled up, and with your eyes closed, the world gone around you, your heart could finally calm down. But the moment you let the reality of nothing around you sink in, you started to panic again. You got up and when you could hear a rustling in the distance, you turned to run the other way.

You took ten steps, but that eleventh one had you falling, no ground for your foot to land on. Two seconds later, your body was being jerked back up into the air and with a blink of an eye, the world was bright again.

Tony's voice came from the suit where he had just caught you, stopping you from walking off the five-story building to your death, and the air caught in your throat.

"I've got you."
