"Who let you off your leash?" A woman taunted Loki as the two of you walked outside, heading for the water, "Is she your new owner then?"
"I am no one's pet, Brynhildr." He spat back and she smirked at him in amusement before her eyes trailed over you.
"What's your name?"
"Y/n," You smiled kindly, and she nodded, "Are you a Valkyrie?"
"Yeah," She told you shortly, "And if you're hanging out with this one," She eyed the trickster, gesturing to him casually with her knife, and then glancing back over to you, "You're just looking for trouble."
"Always so polite." He sassed.
You looked between them, noting there was a clear history here, and it had you stifling a laugh.
"I can't tell if you guys are about to kiss or kill each other."
"I'd rather gauge my own eyes out and feed them to the fishes then kiss this pathetic excuse for a-"
"And I would give anything to kill her where she stands, but there's a lady present and we made a deal." Loki smirked and you rolled your eyes before pretending to look around.
"A lady?" You furrowed your eyebrows and Brynhildr chuckled as she watched you, "Where is this mystical creature? I see none."
"Want to get a drink with me?" She asked you with a cocked eyebrow and you found yourself nodding, leaving the trickster to fume in his spot.
It was nearly three in the morning, but the two of you ended up drinking, talking, laughing, and even singing a bit until well after the sun came up. Asgardians didn't seem to have a last call method, letting the Valkyrie and her strange friend be loud and obnoxious until you guys deemed it time to leave.
She had thrown her arm around your shoulders, a beer in her other hand, and you kept cheersing it with the one in yours. You couldn't stop laughing and she was smiling ear to ear as the two of you stumbled out into the empty road, not caring if others were trying to sleep.
Some were already up and watching you both in either amusement or annoyance, but neither of you noticed. You did notice the brunette who was walking up to Thor's house with some flowers in her arms.
"Oh my god, it's my witch," You slurred, mostly to yourself, but Brynhildr had heard you, and her eyes went to yours in confusion, so you added loudly, "It's Wanda!"
It was loud enough for said witch to hear you, spinning on her heels with a smile that fell when she noticed another woman was hanging all over you, and you, her. She slowly walked over to you and offered the Valkyrie a smile as you introduced them.
"Val, can I call you Val?" You smirked with lidded eyes and she winked at you, but you didn't notice what this whole interaction was doing to Wanda.
"Call me whatever you like," She shrugged, "You matched my drinking tonight, you're a true..."
You giggled as she trailed off, forgetting the word and giving up on it before you gestured to Wanda.
"Val, this is Wanda, Wanda this is Val, Val's name is Brynhildr, but she's a Valkyrie," You smiled dopily, "Hence the name."
"You said hence." Val teased, poking your arm, and you started laughing again."Nice to meet you," Wanda gritted between her teeth, but neither of you picked up on it, and then she turned towards you again, "Y/n, I came because I thought you might want to get back to New York."
"You're leaving?" Brynhildr huffed with a slight whine, "But you're so much fun and everyone else is so boring."
"I'm so sorry," You shook your head with a frown, feeling like you could cry, and then you grabbed her into a hug, cradling her head on your shoulder, "I could come back soon."
"If you want to stay here so bad, maybe you should." Wanda spat and you seemed to snap back to soberness at least enough to notice the bite to her words.
"Wanda, that's not-" You broke the hug and saw the flowers she was death gripping at her side, "Did you bring me flowers?"
"I did." She grumbled honestly and you melted on the spot.
"Aw, Max, that's so sweet," You gushed and then looked over at Val, "I'm gonna go back to New York with my girlfriend, but it was so cool getting to know you."
"Yeah, I get it," She nodded, "Just be happy you're not dating someone who's up in space somewhere half the time."
"Oh my god," You felt so drunkenly distressed, looking over at Wanda frantically, "Please don't go to space, I'd miss you too much."
"Okay, okay," She cooed, leading you inside after waving to Val with a tight smile, "I'm not going to space, sweetheart, promise."
"Whoa," You widened your eyes, crashing on the couch, and she peered down at you in amusement as you continued, "She's promising a lot."
"Did you have fun with your new friend?" She asked as she helped you out of your boots, wondering how you didn't break an ankle stumbling around in the heels, "Get a little too drunk?"
"You're so smart," You sighed, letting your eyes close, and she thought you had dozed off, so she was surprised when you spoke up again, "...My girlfriend is so cool."
She chuckled to herself and you reached out tiredly with grab hands for her, your eyes still closed, but a small whimper escaped you. She smiled softly and leaned down for a hug before you scooted over to make room for you both on the sofa.
"Try to get some sleep and we'll leave when you wake up." She whispered and you took a big whiff of her hair.
"You smell so good," You hummed, making her laugh loudly, trying to muffle it in your neck, and you smiled, "Like...cookies or something."
"Cookies?" She raised her eyebrows curiously and you frowned.
"No, not cookies, who said cookies?" You furrowed your eyebrows and she laughed again until you added, "You smell like Christmas or...home."
She let her eyes flutter closed with that, knowing how important that was to you, and she was smiling so hard it hurt her cheeks that were painted red. She snuggled further into you and you wrapped your arms securely around her in response, not wanting to let go.
She realized that even though you were a clingy, affectionate drunk, you were definitely an honest one too.
